Grow Some Balls, Mr. President

I am really unhappy over this whole debt reduction issue.  On the one hand, we have this bunch of idiot tea bagger Republicans who want to put the burden of debt reduction on the shoulders of those least able to carry it...the elderly and the poor. What low lifes to dare  even suggest that we cut Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security benefits when millions of the elderly barely survive now.
That's while continuing to fight tooth and toenail against rolling the tax back on the wealthy to what it was before Bush gave them a tax break.  It's NOT RAISING TAXES!  It is simply putting the tax back to what it was in 2000.
But, as usual, the Republicans have managed to scare the American public into thinking that everyone's taxes will "go up."  They are masters of misdirection and misinformation.
Here's another thing that could happen.  People may lose all or a signifiicant portion of their home mortgage deduction.  That's just what the housing market and the Middle Class need right now.
On the other hand, we have  President Obama who keeps saying, "Give me a workable plan!"  That upsets me about as much as the Republicans do.
Mr. President, we need you to stand up day after day and denounce these tea baggers for what they are....puppets of big business.
Next, we need you to TELL CONGRESS what we are going to do rather than asking them; then, let them know privately that you will kick their butts right up between their shoulders if they don't quit holding our country hostage.
Grow some balls, Mr. President.  People want you to ACT....NOT REACT!

What irritates me is Obama claims "the buck stops here". But instead of using Harry's "motto", he should be more like Harry and GIVE 'EM HELL. No more Mr. Nice Guy. Get tough, Mr. President.

As I said, he needs to "grow some balls."

Isn't it a mess? I hardly know where to start!

The biggest! I can never remember seeing such gridlock.

Shot off my e-mails, too, earlier today, and again tonight, just like I did yesterday, and the day before that, and the day before that, and last week, and the weeks before that. Add my phone calls, too. But I don't blame Obama as much as the right wing ideological nut cases in the House and Boehner, who are blocking a deal and intent on driving the U.S. fiscal train off a cliff. Idiots! Obama was right to be fuming tonight in his press briefing. I'm fuming, too.

John Boener is the poorest excuse for a Speaker that I have EVER seen. He cannot control his people. They are controling him. As third in line to the Presidency, he has a fiduciary responsibility to work for ALL the citizens. He is so weak it is pathetic.

The thing that gives away the true interests of the Tea Party-backed wing of the Republicans (and some Democrats) in Congress is the fact that they want to reduce Social Security (some want to eliminate it) and Medicare, but they don't want to let the Bush tax cuts expire in January. Those tax cuts only affected incomes above 250k. Everyone should share the cost of spending cuts, not just the poor, the sick, the elderly and the disadvantaged.

Absolutely. The Republicans would like to eliminate Medicare and Medicaid altogether, not to mention social security. Talk about throwing the economy into chaos. That would do it. We would be back to the Hoover days with soup lines and poor houses.

I dont understand the mentality of a nation or its politicians that will allow the rich to continue getting richer while the poor are getting poorer. The idiot Republicans dont want the rich taxed because they are the job creators. Okay, they're still receiving the Bush tax cuts and those obscene CEO's who plunged the world into despair are receiving their disgusting bonuses, so where are all the job? People need to wake up and the media need to get serious about exposing the pathetic behaviour of people who are only concerned about themselves and politicians who are in their pockets.

President Obama has a good pair, he will do the right thing...you'll see.

Boy, I hope he does. I just fired off e-mails to my senators, Congressman, and President Obama expressing my opinions.

While our Republicans running the state and local governments are sticking to the 'no new taxes' mantra, our utility bills and license fees are constantly increased to make money to run the infrastructure. For example, my base electric bill on two seasonal cabins has gone from $140 a year to $384 a year. That's before using any electricity. The utility department for this tiny town is supposed to be non-profit, but last year they took $1.4 million surplus from the electric to fund other city departments, and that was before this latest rate increase.

Euphemisms for everything. Do these politicians really think the public is that dumb. Never mind. Sadly, I just answered my own question.

They are not taxes anymore--they are now 'fees'
reply by greatmartin on July 22, 2011 8:07 PM ()
I hate those so called "non-profit" utilities. They are the biggest rip-off ever to come along. While many, including myself, live primarily off my social security, my co-pays continue to get larger every year, my premiums go up, and doctors receive less money. My groceries and medicine go up. How can I take any more cuts? Already many doctors will not take Medicare and Medicaid patients because of the low reimbursements they receive. Now, the talk is to cut them even further.

Obama has been a BIG disappointment for NOT standing up when he is needed to!
comment by greatmartin on July 22, 2011 4:53 PM ()
He has indeed. I really thought he was going to be our answer, and he hasn't been

I just emailed both senators from Oklahoma. President Obama is next.
