Inventions in My Lifetime

Found my notes of inventions. Would you believe hearing aids in 1923. And a most important one in 1927 - talkies. I can remember going to the movies with my aunt who is only 10 years older than me to see a silent movie. I was reading very early and could enjoy it. Especially the comics.

In 1928 both the iron lung was perfected for use and also penicillin was made. (don't remember it being used until much later).

We didn't have credit cards until 1950. Maybe that was the downfall of some. I have always used mine with care.

In 1955 we got Polio vaccine. I took my little ones to a school where they gave. It was pretty tramatic for my John. It took 4 people to hold him down to get his.

By 1970, we had a man in space, Valium, the computer mouse, the mini skirt (what would we do with them?), The Internet, artificial heart, HTML, the lava lamp.

My little sister has been upset with herr help lately (me too!!) She only works about 2 hours a day and sits and watches TV and talks on her phone the rest of the time. Help is so hard to find that you can bond with. When they are here every day, they can be quite annoying.

Must get busy.

Love, Nena

My father, about your age, keeps me informed as to inventions in his lifetime. Quite remarkable, what we've accomplished.

I hope that reasonable help can be found...it seems so many "workers" are more concerned about their paycheque than their charges. This was such a wonderful post! Amazing, really.I realized how fast things were moving when all three of my kids started saying "Can I see?!" every time a picture was taken. They've never even known film, only digital photography.

What a great read. One forgets that all these things have had to be invented and tend to take these things for granted. With me I guess it is technology that has been the big things in my lifetime-including the internet where I can talk to people all over the world
Thanks for that, take care

Time seems to fly by so fast, some things that seem relatively new to me turn out to have been invented 30 or 40 years ago.
