I Really Can't Believe How Much Time Goes By

I really can't! Time is flying.........

Christmas time has been a lot of fun so far. Skylar has no clue of course, but she is certainly enjoying her new toys, most of which are musical and talking to her. Her Grandparents came to town over the weekend...

So We try to shield her from TV and I plan on doing that for some time... maybe til her teens until she will have free reign. I am not kidding. And I am so on the fence with ipads and such (until she is 2 they are off limits regardless) but I think they might contribute to ADHD and things of that nature, but then I think will we be starting her off behind all the other tech savvy kids??? I do not know. I really want her to be able to entertain herself without electronics. But then I look at myself constantly staring at my stupid iPhone and think I have GOT to set a better example or the poor child will think they are necessary for human survival. Sigh.

Anyways!

I saw this saying on FB earlier today and thought how TRUE!

"Being a mother is learning about strengths you didn't know you had and dealing with fears you didn't know existed."
~ Linda Wooten ~

Right?

And since Skylar is starting to fuss I will end with this Youtube video from this morning... I had taken one of her rocking out to her new musical thinger but wanted to see if I could get her from the front.... and you will see what happens. tee hee

Happy Tuesday peeps!

I'm rather surprised at how much time I spend with my droid. Really didn't expect that to happen. Probably just the continuing evolution of society.

I know. It's shocking to us as well...

I had someone at work ask me if Dakota reads books. I told her yes he does, he is reading a series right now. she said, no does he read actual books or kindle? I told we read real books because most of the time we are snacking while reading and we wouldn't want the screen to get all gooey!

Good answer and it makes sense! I love my real books, but the kindle is sometimes cheaper (through my ipad) than paperbacks or hardcovers.

It's gotta be tough these days to know what's right and what will make your kid a smarter and a more functional human being for the long run. There is no escaping it but I think waiting till she is two is a solid plan.
Love those cute cheeks. What a sweetheart!

Thanks lady! Where is that blog post you promised?

I would say beware of video games because they need to know about the
real world and not killing fantasy creatures. As long as Skylar has lots of
love and interaction with real people TV and the computer won't become all
consuming.

Yes we are hoping to avoid all violent video games!!! Those freak me out.

well right you are on the electronic.I myself getting tired or it.With the I phone,I pad etc.do we need all these things?guess not.Who knows what I will do in the coming New Year.
All you need is one?yes, the children are learning but they are not reading books just IBook.
Then again is their generation and not mine.So let them bite the dust and do whatever they have to do.That is their problems and not mine.

True. We will see what happens I suppose!

Time does fly. The older you get, the faster it goes.
As for technology, sadly it is here to stay. The schools here in Flagler county Fla. Are handing out iPads, and laptops to all the kids in school. There is no getting around it. There are lots of educational programs though, so she can learn, not just watch videos.

I hadn't thought of that... I guess we won't have an option! But maybe it's best for her? Who knows...
