Last Names and Fitness

This weekend while R and I were on our Baltimore excursion he had mentioned someone he knew who's wife didn't change her last name because it was too much of a hassle. I have some friends who didn't change their last names too. I think it's kinda cool of them, and if I liked my last name I would keep mine original as well.

There are a few of you who actually know my last name, therefore know my plight. I have debated changing my last name for some time. One of my uncles DID change his family's last name to a more common last name (he kept the German roots though which was cool) and do you know why? Because he moved to the DC area and said [current last name] simply wouldn't do. I concur!!! I told R that I am going to change my last name next year to the same name my uncle changed his to, and I wouldn't be changing it again after that.

This is also semi interesting because I remember once R asked me if I got married if I would keep my last name. I said "Yes, I would keep mine" in jest, and he was like "Oh" then I was like "hello!!! Silly man, I would change my last name in a heartbeat!" haha He smiled.

I promised myself long ago that if I wasn't married by the time I was 35 I was changing my last name to make my life easier. And man oh man would it make my life easier. I have a last name that seriously can offend people. It's nuts.

In other news, I am missing working out. Strange hey? It certainly took long enough! But I do miss it. I also really want to revisit quitting smoking. It's so much harder to have an effective work out when your lungs are killing you. *sigh*

And all my pants are tight and I hate it. :0)

HAPPY TUESDAY!

I thought about keeping my last "married" name because it was the same as my 3 kids' last names UNTIL I met my 2nd husband. I took his last name for several reasons... he wanted me to, I didn't want to connected by name any longer to my ex-husband when our "after marriage" friendship fell apart (because of his 2nd wife...another story, can't stand her!) and also because I wanted to connect to my husband and be his "Mrs. P"

My name isn't on the level of yours but I too want to change my name to something simple like Black or Smith or Jones. That would be fun! Those darn German last names! I dislike giving out my work email as my last name is somehow difficult to spell over the phone. Wow, that must be torture to spell yours out! eeek!

I have had lots of last names and the best one was White. It was so beautifully common and easy to spell. I really don't like my German last name now but Ted would have been very offended if I hadn't changed it. It rhymes with Tinkle which amused school children no end.

I grew up in cajun country..with all sorts of names...and no one could say mine...it's German. Now I still use my ex's last name and no one can pronounce it either...

I do know your last name and it is a doozy! I never thought about the DC aspect and your uncle is right. I bet you get some strange looks. my maiden name was the same as a girls first name. so I got alot of, whats your last name? they thought my last name was my middle name.
