The Latest and Greatest News!

15 April 2010

Well, things are still looking up for me here. I put in 24 hours at the plant last week and I’m close to the same so far this week. It’s not a huge amount of money, but the check doesn’t have the Gub’mint name on it either. It’s something I EARNED!!!!

I’ve had some very encouraging things said to me at work. Several people were very happy I was brought back and put on this Europe trip. Apparently there weren’t too many people who were trustworthy enough to take on this responsibility. And even though I wasn’t brought back specifically to go to Europe (I actually was re-hired to replace one of the guys going to Europe) as soon as the plant manager found out I was being brought back, offered the last position to me.

On top of all of that, I haven’t lost my touch with the machinery it would seem. I got bumped out to second shift this week and working on my own again after one day of re-training. Had a few issues the first night, but I managed to work them all out and everything.

I’m so freaking tired right now it’s not funny. I’m in between classes so I came home to eat lunch before I go to my Physics class. When I get out of that at 5pm I haul out to work and put in 8 hours. I’ll probably get out of work about 2 in the morning. But I’m taking Friday off to catch up on the stuff I need to do here at home.

Oh, by the way, I’m leaving May 7th and I’ll be gone for about 8-10 weeks. M (my wife) will fly out on the 14th and spend most of two weeks with me in Europe. My company is buying her plane ticket. Isn’t that freaking AWSOME?

I’m getting so excited. I have decided to go there with a completely open mind and just roll with it all and just see what happens. I’m a little concerned when it comes down to the food (my stomach and I are really good friends, hence the need to lose a few pounds…) just because I really don’t know what to expect. I can sleep just about anywhere, so that doesn’t bother me, although the company is looking at getting us each a little bungalow, or efficiency apartment for the time we’re over there. Just as long as there is a ‘fridge so I can keep some food so I don’t have to eat out all the time. Save a few Euros for when I get home!

Well, I gotta jump on the motorcycle and get to class. See ya around!
