Same Photo - Second Try for Fredo

I have been scanning old family photos from various sources and relatives, doing my best to clarify some pretty beat-up ones and making archival prints for distribution to those in our family who care about them and the family history.

This photo: I scanned an actual "tintype" photo. It is a type of photo positive that was printed from a negative onto a tin sheet which had been surfaced with photo emulsion. This one required some Photoshop work to bring out the middle shades and highlights. I am astounded at the quality of the original, though.

The subjects are my great grandfather and great grandmother on my mother's side, Dr. Charles Mahlon Comer and his wife Sarah Jerusha Comer. He was a country doctor, educated at Ohio State. I believe the photo was taken sometime around 1876 to 1880.

What a beautiful picture. Such interesting faces, and I love the old clothes. Sometime I'd like to sew a dress just like the one in the photo.

There was nothing wrong with the first post of this photo. But I'm on a Mac, maybe that has something to do with it.

I inadvertently posted it CMYK instead of RGB, so I corrected it in the second post.

Looks like you have the makings of a historical family photo archive on the web. So glad you know how to preserve these precious images.
