Day four without water is half over with no sign of the backhoe that will dig down to the well-head. I started out optimistic on Saturday, but diagnosis of the problem has changed several times. So, even after the hole is dug, there's not guarantee that the fix will go smoothly.
Fortunately, I have years of tent-camping and RV boondocking experience, so I'm no stranger to water conservation. We brought home 30 gallons of potable water from town last night, and melting snow for toilet flushing is something I decided to do just to make the most of the wilderness experience.
The goddam plow took down the mailbox and I'll have to wait for the warming trend this weekend to get that fixed up. Not so much because I can't work in the cold, but the damn thing is covered with dirty ice and I can't wash it off. Truck washing is out too, although I do have some rinseless chemical that I tried to use... but it froze and the running boards are covered with muck anyway, so I gave up on that too.
Most of the Christmas decorations are back in the boxes. All that's left is the tree and a few small things on the fireplace mantle. Donna want's the tree for a few more nights... LOL either that or she doesn't want to help take it down.
On a positive note, Donna's last two classes ended on 23 December and she has an A and an A- working in them, so she is unofficially a graduate with a BA or a BS in something related to Human Services. I think I's called more officially, Human Development! I had gotten used to proof-reading her papers, so I suggested that she do one more semester just for the hell of it, but that idea didn't fly. Guess I need to find a new source of mental stimulation.
If only.... If it was spring, the coach would have full water tanks and I'd be taking a hot shower... Oh well, you don't have to smell me.... Happy New Year!
