Then there's the garden, and the painting, which I can do now that the window glazing has set. Anyway, I digress. This post is about the Fair on the Square which takes place every Friday evening in Delhi during July. The venue is the grassy square that you see in front of the courthouse in the webcam view from my profile page. There's also a Civil War monument there, but that's another post. The Fair on the Square used to be more crowed in days gone by, but there were a few vendors, and plenty of food (which we wouldn't eat since Donna is doing Atkins, and I'm doing a carb-addict's plan).
But back to the Fair. Our reason for going, aside from getting out for an evening, was to listen to live music. The band (Off the Record) is somewhat well-know in the area and plays basically 50's stuff, although they did throw in a few 60s tunes, and gospel. And if it's true that a picture is worth a thousand words,.....
This was the "opening act", so to speak. It's a school band, judging from the school bus parked on the side street. One of those bands that plays patriotic drum and bugle type tunes. They finished up at 7:45 and made way for the rockers.

"Testing, one two..."

The Rotary Club, which sponsors the event, had BBQ grills set up to grill burgers and dogs, but there was also ice cream and cotton candy, and pop corn....

Everyone was welcome....

Yup, I do mean everyone, although we didn't have the boyz with us.....

And the band played on.... I love the sound and feel of deep bass. That's probably my favorite part of live music!

Before we left for the evening, Donna was telling herself that she wouldn't be impressed... Something about seen it all, heard it all when you get to be our age... But I think she was having a good time, even without cotton candy....

As with all good things, this evening came to a close, as will the summer. Hard to believe the good weather is well more than half over. August will be hot with humidity, and heating season will begin in September, although the days will still be pleasant. I have a truck load of firewood ordered, but I'll be cutting and splitting it myself this year. I don't have the chain saw yet, but I'll get one before the logs get here. This will be a new experience, but I'm always looking for stuff to do outside after the summer ends, so here's my excuse. Besides, we save have the price of having it delivered cut and split. Enjoy the rest of the summer....
