Pics from Around the Yard

I had the camera out to take a picture of the first cucumber of the season--just in case something unfortunate happens to it before it's ready to harvest, and somebody pulled into the driveway. This is an event that Buster finds irresistible. That is, he can't resist making a comment about it.

But meanwhile, back in the garden... Here's the cuke patch....

And the guest of honor..... Better looking than any of what we got last year!

The squash are bigger, but they have no fruit yet.

Tomato and pepper plants are nothing to blog about, but the horseradish has nice bushy tops, so maybe I'll get to harvest some this year. Last time I tried to harvest they were only as thick as a pencil, so I replanted it.

So, slugs and other bugs are under control, and so are the weeds. We got 2 inches of rain last night, which we needed, and it's going to be hot and not too humid for the rest of the week. Maybe even the slow tomato plants can catch up!

Buster looks good in his harness.
Your garden is growing! Have you ever made sliced cucumbers in a mayo and half-n-half sauce? It's really good.

John, explain to me about Wheatens. They look a lot like beagles and this is an unfamilar breed to me. Tell me more about them, they are very cute.

Nice looking garden! Right now all we have are tomato's but that was the test. Since they survived and are thriving, we take on another veggie! Busters cute!

Our tomato plants (3 varieties) have a ton, I mean a TON of blooms, but no tomato's yet (what's the deal?) We had a very first cuke in a salad last night and I got a one little zucchini and a decent summer squash so far. If/When the tomato's do come in, I swear I'll be able to set up a stand at the end of my driveway,
Your garden looks well tended to. (Ours has quite a bit of weeds, but my husband just keeps moving the cucumber vines around over top of them and they get choked out, )

it seems like tomatoes are not doing well this year, I have heard a few people complaining. I have lots of green cherry tomatoes but so far nothing on the big tomatoe plants. and thats the whole reason I plant a garden, for the tomatoes!
