My computer had developed problems booting a few weeks ago an I expected the worst so I began removing pictures and documents to USB drives, just in case. So just-in-case happened last weekend and all the old beast would do is beep at boot.
So I called the techie at the shop where I bought it and he diagnosed it as probably RAM. So I took it in today and he took one look at the case, didn't even open it up and said,
"It's not worth putting money into this".
Then he preceded to mention that it doesn't even have a dual-core and a bunch of other negatives.
"Don't talk it down too bad", I said, "I bought it from you guys..... two years ago". For less than $200.
So, he put new RAM in it and it's working tonight, but if the geek was a doctor and the machine was a patient, last rites would have been mentioned somewhere in the process.
I'll probably buy another refurb from them for $250. It will come with Windows 7 which I know nothing about, but it will be faster than this one, which is fine. Since even new machines are obsolete after two years, I might as well buy slight old for a lot less and replace it when necessary. Just wasn't planning on a major expense right now, but that's life.
So a ten dollar fix has me running, and I do have the droid.
The garden is coming along nicely. Squash should be ready to eat in a few days and the first three tomatoes are turning orange. They are supposed to be early girl, but they look like plum tomatoes. I'll be checking with farmer Wayne where I bought the plants next time I make horseradish. For whatever reason, he doesn't grow his own, and he really appreciates freshly-ground horseradish.
BTW, if you have a strong desire to check on my garden, go to youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wnoe68DyAaw&list=UUiGeHyKmdYbDEAk3ChlMI5w
Actually, this is somewhat out-of-date, June 22. Everything is quite a bit larger now.
