Buster and the Cone

Ok, I shot another video.

It's been almost three weeks since Benny's surgery and he has been free of the cone since the beginning of the week. I wanted to keep the cone in good condition just in case he needed it, but he doesn't. So we wanted to see how well Buster would do wearing it.

Benny did very well, but I had doubts about Buster that turned out to be justified. Fortunately he doesn't need to wear it.

The last frame is priceless--the way his long ears get wrapped around the base of the cone....

I can't imagine what that would be like--low to the ground and the ole lady yapping.... geez... gives me the creeps....

Buster is really a sweet kid -- he didn't get ballistic or growly. but he really wanted it off. Trust you accommodated him. Give him a hug from me.

We only left it on long enough to shoot the video.

Poor Buster! I didn't know about the soft collars. Rex got too freaked to
wear his.

My buddy's dog--the guy who helped me get Benny home after surgery--had a dog that was supposed to wear a cone. My buddy taped up the injury instead. I didn't ask how. He loves animals, so it wasn't anything too weird, but I really didn't want to hear about it.

One of my cowgirl cousins made a 'cone' out of a good-sized ice cream bucket with slits cut in it and a dog collar threaded through. The dog actually looked pretty happy about it, but I think he was just glad that he got to ride shotgun in the truck.

This one is held on by a rigid dog collar too. Benny wears a chain collar since he's rarely on a leash, so I had to borrow Buster's collar to keep the cone on Benny.

When I posted the pic of Benny wearing it on FB, a guy asked, "How many channels doe he get?" I said that the ole lady must sound louder than usual. I would like to know how it is in there, but I'd need a pretty large cone compared to that one!

Bless his heart. I was interesting how he went over to his crate and bed as if going to the Kings X safe zone would stop the humility. I wonder if when they really need it, they realize it and accept the cone better. Please give him a hug from me and tell him it's okay now. And then a hug to Benny so he doesn't feel left out.

I think "needing it" from their point of view is the opposite of what they want to do--get at whatever it is the cone is keeping them from. As I said to the others, I hope he never needs to wear one.

I think Buster was confused at first. Trying to figure out what that was telling him to do. He didn't even have a wound to lick and he wanted it off... hope he never needs to wear one.

awe, it's like K9 torture... he's adorable though! There are always soft Elizabethan collars as well. He's so cute!!!
