Something Old, New, Borrowed, Blue

No one is getting married. The title just fits.
Well, I might finally be able to get a mortgage on our house at 3% interest. These are recordbreaking rates and I'm so anxious to know if we'll be approved. The process has become much more difficult and complicated in recent years. We're working with a wonderful banker who seems to be genuinely interested in our success.

Something new! I bought Jennifer a Taurus TCP .380 pistol on Saturday. I just happened to notice two lavender colored pistols and called her on a whim to see if she wanted one. "Text me a picture of them," she said. OK, so I sent her a picture of both of them, effectively cropping out the price tag (as a little test). I told the man behind the counter, "Watch this. She'll pick the most expensive one without even seeing the price tag." Sure enough, "I like the first one!" She replied. Fully seventy dollars more expensive than the other one, but she's worth it. So, I bought it on the spot. We both have our concealed carry license and have all the appropriate training and practice. We probably won't be among the small percentage of the population that chooses to "open carry" when the new law goes into effect on November 1. In fact, I'm positive we won't.

Can you guess which one she picked?

Something old...
I've enjoyed reading everyone's posts. Well, not everyone's, but the few regulars I read every day. And I DO read them every day. I've kind of decided to add my little stream of drivel to the collection on a more regular basis.
Something blue...
The color of my Sofie's eyes and I love her with all my heart.

Not only is Sophie looking good (and older), but so are you! There has been drastic changes in your life the past 5 years! Best of luck in the mortgage interest situation.

Yeah, I'm aging. I love it! We have been through some pretty drastic stuff recently. Hopefully, life will settle down for a few years for us. Sorry it's so dry out your way. Parts of Oklahoma are still in severe drought conditions. I sincerely think it's all cyclical and the rain will return when it normally does.

Hope the mortgage works out for you. We bought some tomatoes to set out in the garden next week (still getting freezing temps at night once in awhile). I always think of you when I pick a category for my posts - one time you said you pick them randomly.

Good luck with your tomatoes! I wonder if you could do cabbage, lettuce and onions right now. They are cold hardy. In fact, they don't do well in heat. Beets are also a cold weather vegetable.

I would have said the one on the left. It is more feminine. Hope you get
the mortgage at that fantastic rate.

Right you are. The one on the left is the one she picked.
We're waiting on a call from the appraisers now.

Yes, Sophie's a keeper. Did Sophie pick the gun on the right? I'm just guessing here.

So far, you're the only who has guessed! It was Jennifer, not Sofia, but she picked the one on the left. I personally like it better as well. But in this purchase I kept my opinion a secret. It was all about her.

I hope we will be able to do that one of these days.

I wish we could meet sometime, as Jennifer and I have met Jeri. She and Ted are so nice. Sofia IS a keeper!

My friend Allen is also applying for the lower mortgage and they aren't making it easy but maybe they learned from their past mistakes--I doubt it.

I'm sure the difficulty is a reaction to the upside down housing market, but I can demonstrably prove that I'm capable of paying this small loan back, and still, no one thought they could loan me money. That is unless you count the really high interest options, which I don't. I hate paying interest. Fortunately, it seems we've finally found a workable solution.
