That's us here at MyBloggers. At least my presence ratchets that description up a notch. I'm one of the few conservatives left on this site and it still beats me why I stay. We disagree on so many things, finding something to write about is almost impossible. But, here we are. Jennifer asks me why I stay, and reminds me that I've often said I'm leaving.
It's been very hot here. We've broken all kinds of records for heat and drought this year. We dove headlong from Winter directly into Summer. We'll probably skip over Fall as well. I am of the opinion that these cycles have been repeating themselves for hundreds of years on our planet. It's Nature's way of doing her house cleaning. The weak and faulty things perish, the strong survive to produce even stronger things. This Summer has been a reset button of sorts.
I've been putting in 12 and 14 hour days working for my dad moving portable storage buildings in this heat. That, in addition to church responsibilities, has kept me on my toes. Life here in the U.S. is so much busier and faster paced than life was in Mexico. On Sunday, the 4th, I assume the duties and responsibilities of full-time pastor of a small congregation in OKC. I moved from Mexico to Little Mexico, seriously. The area in which the church is located is estimated to be almost 80% hispanic. I have very strong opinions about the illegal alien problem here in the U.S. The whole issue has placed me in a quandry here in the States, something I never had to consider when I was living in Mexico.
Our little girl, Sofia, is finally sleeping better at night and seems to be eating well. Jennifer is breast-feeding her and we are both very pleased that she has been able to do that. The benefits to both mother and child are amazing and we are very encouraged about it. It is so nice to be able to go to Mom and Dad's in the evenings or see each other in other settings, as we both spent most of our earlier, single years in countries far away. That absence makes these times together even more special.
Lastly, I'm tempted to pull up everything in my garden except for the squash plants, jalapeño peppers, tomatoes, okra and sweet potatoes. Everything else has been such a disappointment. The watermelon, cucumber and cantaloupe vines have taken over the space with loads of blooms, but NO VIABLE FRUIT! In fact, they seem to be hidering the other plants that ARE producing at least a little. It has been too hot at night for the tomatoe plants but I'm holding out hope for the cooler temps later in the month of September. Maybe we'll get a few late bloomers.
Wow, this long post makes up for the sometimes month-long lapse in my writing. Take care, MyBloggers.
