That's us here at MyBloggers. At least my presence ratchets that description up a notch. I'm one of the few conservatives left on this site and it still beats me why I stay. We disagree on so many things, finding something to write about is almost impossible. But, here we are. Jennifer asks me why I stay, and reminds me that I've often said I'm leaving.
It's been very hot here. We've broken all kinds of records for heat and drought this year. We dove headlong from Winter directly into Summer. We'll probably skip over Fall as well. I am of the opinion that these cycles have been repeating themselves for hundreds of years on our planet. It's Nature's way of doing her house cleaning. The weak and faulty things perish, the strong survive to produce even stronger things. This Summer has been a reset button of sorts.
I've been putting in 12 and 14 hour days working for my dad moving portable storage buildings in this heat. That, in addition to church responsibilities, has kept me on my toes. Life here in the U.S. is so much busier and faster paced than life was in Mexico. On Sunday, the 4th, I assume the duties and responsibilities of full-time pastor of a small congregation in OKC. I moved from Mexico to Little Mexico, seriously. The area in which the church is located is estimated to be almost 80% hispanic. I have very strong opinions about the illegal alien problem here in the U.S. The whole issue has placed me in a quandry here in the States, something I never had to consider when I was living in Mexico.
Our little girl, Sofia, is finally sleeping better at night and seems to be eating well. Jennifer is breast-feeding her and we are both very pleased that she has been able to do that. The benefits to both mother and child are amazing and we are very encouraged about it. It is so nice to be able to go to Mom and Dad's in the evenings or see each other in other settings, as we both spent most of our earlier, single years in countries far away. That absence makes these times together even more special.
Lastly, I'm tempted to pull up everything in my garden except for the squash plants, jalapeño peppers, tomatoes, okra and sweet potatoes. Everything else has been such a disappointment. The watermelon, cucumber and cantaloupe vines have taken over the space with loads of blooms, but NO VIABLE FRUIT! In fact, they seem to be hidering the other plants that ARE producing at least a little. It has been too hot at night for the tomatoe plants but I'm holding out hope for the cooler temps later in the month of September. Maybe we'll get a few late bloomers.
Wow, this long post makes up for the sometimes month-long lapse in my writing. Take care, MyBloggers.

Wow- I never thought of you as a conservative, I guess because you are always so nice. I like you because you are nice.

Wow! I think that's one of the nicest things anyone has ever said to me on MyBloggers. I've always thought you were nice, too. I love your art.

As long as we all stay civil, there's no reason why we can't express our opinions. I, for one, respect you and your conservatism (and religion). I like hearing the "other side" and, frankly, get tired of listening to "my side" (i.e. MSNBC). Hang with us, please, and don't be afraid to speak out on the issues that concern you.

Yes, indeed! BTW, I LOVE "Social Animal". A very good read. Educational couched in fiction. A great writing style. Thanks for the recommendation.

I wish I could see your little Sofia.
Sorry about your garden.

We have a guest room!

Obviously we had different mothers!
I didn't mean 'fighting' fighting!!
I just probably subscribe to different posts than you do and I have about 50 on my list--the only two I can recall discussing/mentioning religion and/or politics are solitaire and redimpala.
Now what's funny is that since Eddie left his last web site they have become predominately conservative bloggers and I avoid, as much as I can, those bloggers because of all the name calling and 'kill Obama' stuff--I didn't even read them when it was 'kill Bush' and I won't read them when it is 'kill' whoever another president--the further I stay away from politics ON BLOG SITES the better I am. Don't take this the wrong way--I am not picking on conservatives--I stay away from most political blogs and that is because my mother was definite--"Do not discuss politics and religion. Vote for who you want and 'follow' who you want but discussing those two subjects will lead to heated words." I didn't do everything my mother told me--far from it--but I have found that to be true.

I don't understand your first paragraph--Eddie, who owns this site, is a conservative---only one person I know of (unless I miss the others) who posts political blogs is a liberal but her posts very seldom stir up anything here which is GOOD--this is a nice, peaceful place where you can write the 5 other paragraphs and get positive responses.
You want to 'fight' there are many other blogging sites to fight at.
'We disagree on so many things'--aside from the things your mother told you never to discuss in public---politics and religion--what other disagreements are there at mybloggers?

We must read entirely different posts. I'm always finding politics and religion here. And with the exception of Eddie and the rare article from Oldfatguy, they are ALL liberal. The only reason they don't stir anything up, is because, as I implied in the first paragraph, you all mostly agree on these things. I do not.
It's funny, I never said anything about fighting. You brought that up. And as for the things my mother taught me, well...she never said anything about not discussing such important subjects in public. Only people who cannot discuss such topics without resorting to name calling and insults should never discuss them in public.

I'm so glad that you have stuck with us, and it's always fun to hear from you. I think a lot of us are having to compromise and stifle some of our opinions to keep the mouthy few from getting all huffy.
