Just Because

It's been a while since I've written. We've been very busy and things rock on pretty much the same day after day for the most part.
The mortgage company is balking at every little detail in getting our cash-out refinance done. Right now, the sticking point is employment history, all because one of the people they asked to verify my previous employment misspoke and told them I filed "self-employed" last year. I'm in touch with my tax preparer trying to clear that up. This has been a two-month long process and frankly, I'm frustrated and threatening to change banks. Anyone with a brain can see I'm good for the paltry amount I'm requiring.
I took two tests this afternoon at the Office of Personnel Management for the State of Oklahoma. We'll see if I get an interview. Some of those situational questions are really subjective and open for a bit of discretion. I aced the math questions, and did well on the English usage questions. I used to pride myself as a good English student, (my blog posts don't count) but the tests showed me a few deficiencies.
We're living with a good bit of pressure right now. I won't go into detail, but we're wearing thin emotionally and really needing to get away soon. I vote for somewhere cool.
In spite of it all, we're still happy and whether you agree with me or not (it matters not), still glad to be conservative and Christian.

You might want to consider another company even if it means starting over. Rates have dropped again.

You know, I just might check into that. I'm all about cheaper rates. I despise paying interest!

Somewhere cool would probably do wonders for your stress level. Nothing more stressful than dealing with people over loans. Best of luck, Jeremy.

I can only imagine how hot it is in Dallas right now. We really should meet up one of these days. I'm enjoying getting to know our fellow MyBloggers people in person.

Life can deal some terrible blows that we don't expect but half the things
we worry about never happen. This will pass and perhaps you can look
back and laugh about it. I am firmly convinced that you and Jennifer
can weather whatever storms arise.

Thanks, Jeri. We really do have it pretty good. Good family and friends make life a very rich experience. Love to you and Ted.

Sorry for the stress ... mayhap you will talk about it at some point. Unless you go to Canada, you might not find "somewhere cool". Hang in there.

Thanks. I probably will write about it when I'm ready. It's a cathartic process.

It seems like banks fork over money without question to con artists who can't pay it back but come in with a plausible story, and then they rake normal upstanding people over the coals.

That's exactly what I was telling Jennifer. Take some joker who doesn't have two cents to rub together and he gets all the breaks. A hardworking bloke like myself has to prove that I have enough money to not even need the loan. Go figure.

my brother Bubba was going through some similar grief when they were trying to refinance their home a few months ago. he got so frustrated with the bank, the appraisers etc. that he told them all to go pound it up their re-fi. In a nice way, of course. He's a conservative Christian too.

It's such a frustrating process given how they investigate every aspect of your life, including pictures of the inside of your home. Grrrr!!

Take a deep breath and relax--life goes on in spite of all that we have to deal with--and I am here at 76 to prove it--I have had congestive heart failure, an aorta valve operation, have been fighting prejudice for being a Jew and/or Gay for over 65+ years, been almost homeless, etc., etc., but the good has always been more than the bad--I learned at 33 that all it takes is to get up in the morning and you have it made.
I am neither Christian or conservative (and it matters not)but I am telling you 'this too shall pass'.

Honestly, we've got it pretty good. Life and health are two precious commodities.
