With everything that happened this week, I told Jennifer Saturday night that I was just trying to get through to Monday, (our official day off). Well, I made it. I pushed through Friday, Saturday and Sunday's activities (Sunday being the most difficult). At times, (and this may sound really lame), I was just on the verge of tears all day.
So, we made it to Monday and I've enjoyed one of the best days off I've had in a while. We came to Guadalajara. We ate lunch at Chili's, with a great 100 pesos off coupon. We walked around the mall. We went to the bookstore to pick up a few special requests. At some point I almost ran over a pedestrian, but there's a whole set of circumstances that led up to that near hit. Guadalajara traffic being the most influential. It was crazy frustrating. Then we made our way to one of our favorite Starbucks. Say what you want about exorbitant prices, globalization, etc. We enjoy the atmosphere and comfortability of being able to sip on something tasty, surf the web, read a book or anything else we want to do, in an atmosphere that is as close to American as is humanly possible in Guadalajara.
We packed our laptops, books, etc. and here we sit. I think they're going to come around to charge us rent after a bit. We've been here for hours and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Reading (leisurely), surfing, people watching, and generally forgetting about Ocotlan and the myriad of projects we've got going on right now. And assimilating the reality of the miscarriage. I never thought it would affect us the way it has. Being a bit of a psychology amateur, I'm intrigued by the delay in my emotional reaction. It wasn't until after the D and C that it really started sinking in. It seems to hit at night, when we go to bed, after all the activity of the day has been put to rest. Anyway, lest you think this is a plea for sympathy, I must say, we're doing fine and looking forward to the future.
We're just about to wrap it up over here and go to the airport to pick up my mother-in-law. I'm excited about her visit. She's cool. I wonder if they'll give us our deposit back on this corner of the restaurant we've rented for the afternoon. LOL They might not let us back in the door next time.
All in all, it's been one of my most favorite days off.
