7-11 Offers Mashed Potatoes in Slurpee Machine!

7-11 Slurpee machine sells mashed potatoes

The 7-Eleven convenience store chain is now featuring a Slurpee-type machine that dispenses mashed potatoes and gravy.

The Huffington Post on Monday confirmed that the Maggi mashed potato vending machines were beginning to show up in stores in the U.S.

For a dollar, you can get a generous helping of mashed potatoes. And then you can wash it down with a Big Gulp for only a dollar more.

The process is simple: Place the cup under the nozzle, press the “Mashed Potatoes” button and wait for your potatoes to be dispensed. Next, press the optional “Chicken Gravy” and wait two seconds for your gravy.

“But who needs the mashed potato part?”Gizomodo wondered. “If 7-11 wanted a real hit on their hands, they’d just let customers add chicken gravy to any foodstuffs in the store.”

The machine also features a “BBQ Mashed Potatoes” button, whatever that is.

YouTube videos show that Slurpee machines have been delivering mashed potatoes at 7-Elevens in Singapore since at least 2009.

At Thanksgiving I buy canned gravy and make mashed potatoes. Color me homemaker par excellence. The rest of the year, I boil potatoes and serve them bare and Ed eats them with ketchup and I abstain.

*whispered* I secretly enjoy instant mashed potatoes. Something about their consistency.

Super! Actually, I love mashed potatoes and gravy! I might try it.

I thought the whole concept was hilarious and wondered if it was a joke. It actually makes sense and would be much more hygienic than the traditional method of dispensing it.

When I drive between Las Vegas and Colorado, it is a long, boring trip and I never stop for a real meal. Towards the end of the day, there is no snack that speaks to me: I crave something hot and meaty. If I went into one of those I-80 truck stops and they had a mashed potato/gravy machine, I might just try it.

I think it might be good. It just struck me as a hilarious way to serve it. Probably much more sanitary.

I really like ALL of the fried chicken places (KFC, Church's and Popeye's), but we rarely go there since we're trying to be healthier.

Traveling is broadening, isn't it? I can see you stopping at every 7-11 looking for mashed potatoes!!

Actually, it's just an article I read. When I want mashed potatoes, I'll go to Kentucky Fried Chicken and order the whole combo!!! I thought this was hilarious.
