My Story (Inspired by Greatmartin and Elkhound)

Once Upon A Time.......

There was a girl.  From all accounts the girl was bright, headstrong, independant and adventuresome....some would have said "wild".  Her name was Theresa Bridgett Margaret O'Blather. She was born in the small town of Elkpoop, West By God to a couple of people who could not have been less alike.  Her father, David Michael Patrick O'Blather was a small, mean, fierce, controlling, tobacco spitting Irish hillbilly and her mother, Mona Ruth (nee Malarky) was sweet, kind, affectionate and caring.  Theresa was their oldest child and according to most, the smartest one of the litter of eleven.  Theresa and her father never got along because they were a good deal alike,  right down to their flaming red hair.(his having all gone south by the time he was 40)  The moment Theresa graduated from high school (unpregnant, to the amazement of many) legend has it she told her father to shit in his hat and wear it backwards, packed her bags and lit out for the big city of Crackerburg where she got a job in a factory that manufacutured metal clasps for garter belts, developed a wicked drinking problem and had numerous brief, tawdry affairs.

Meanwhile ...

In the land of the Golden Bear and the Golden Gate dwelt a young man named Nathaniel Jacob Wannabee.   Recently arrived from Alabama, Nathaniel had come to this golden land fleeing the brutal segregation of the Deep, Dirty South where he found himself held in low esteem by fellow blacks who resented his very light coloring and by whites who just hated his coloring period.  In his mind he felt that if he were just a little lighter, he could pass for white...just a little lighter and his problems would be over. But alas, the cruel and fickle finger of fate had cursed him with not being black enough for blacks nor white enough for whites.  And he resented it mightily.   Shortly after arriving in The City of the Angels, he met a girl as light skinned as himself and it was love at first sight.  Later, the girl would present some serious mental  issues but at that moment, Nathaniel (pronounced "Nay-thaniel" by friends and family) just knew he had found his dream girl.  They were married, proceeded to live happily ever after and began to reproduce.

Then....The Korean War Breaks Out
