Well here it is the day after. Cow Snot got its white Christmas after all. It started yesterday morn about 8am and we currently have about 5-6 inches on the ground by my estimation. Needless to say, I haven't gone anywhere since I got home last evening. I am way too old to be out running around in this. I'd get stranded in a ditch somewhere out in this God-forsaken prairie only to be found next spring dead and having eaten my own foot.
But enough of the cheerful holiday imagery. Christmas at brother Bubba's was ok. It was complicated by the fact that both nieces, Jethrene and Lulubelle are moving to new digs. As y'all might recall, Lulubelle, her husband Buster and their two children Damien(12) and Wednesday(10) lived in half of brother Bubba's house. Well, they decided they wanted their own place after living there for-ev-err. There doesn't seem to be any friction or descention among them but I don't live there so I don't know fer sher. So they bought themselves a "condo" a few blocks away from me. I personally think they got hosed on that deal but I remain silent. Anyhoo, so my other niece Jethrene her new husband Briney and her two kids Jethro (9) and Daisy May (10) are taking Lulubelle's place at Bubba's. Poor Bubba...can't seen to get his kids out of his house. And the bad part is, both these people could not wait until after the holidays to move. No, they were taking boxes, furniture, kids toys, partridges in pear trees, in and out of that house all day yesterday. They did pause briefly to have some lovely ham(which I called dibs on the bone and am going to add to some lovely navy beans and cook away) and open presents. I tell you, it made me tired and my joints ache just watching. This was all while it was snowing and blowing. And I'm the one in therapy.
So, other changes that I may or may not have addressed since last I stained these hallowed pages. Crazy Sis now lives in my apartment building. As you might suspect, I am about to hang myself. I'd be a lot more comfortable if she were on the other side of town...or on Saturn. Lulubelle and Buster have themselves a new dog. Her name is Poe and she's an English bulldog. One of there other dogs, Moose, went over the Rainbow Bridge last spring. He was old and arthritic and suffering so they did what they had to do even though it was painful for them. So now their fur kids consists of Poe, Benson(we never did figure out what breed he is) and Piglet the cat (a whiney, screaching Siamese who sheds like a waterfall). Remains to be seen how they are going to fare in their new abode.
So I guess that's it from the Gardenia Room high atop the majestic Shady Pines Senior Apartment Complex here in beautiful downtown Cow Snot. Hope everone had a great holiday.
Oh yeah, I have a replacement computer now so I should have no excuse not to show up here more often.
