Absolutely AMAZING what people lose and never bother to claim! I SUIT OF ARMOR??!! Sounds like you had a wonderful time!
This series of posts fascinates me. I think I am most struck by the fact that I am twice your age, and yet you and I share almost identical experience in the quest for religious answers that make sense. Who or what is the Holy Spirit? (Catholics also call him The Paraclete, a word for which I have no definition, and he is depicted as a white dove in pictures.) When I was young, he was known as The Holy Ghost, but some highly placed, pointy-hatted person in The Faith decided that the word "Ghost" conjured up scary pictures for young people, so they changed his name The Holy Spirit. I too think that he was supposed to be the spirit of God within all things. The story of The Pentecost, when the apostles were all holed up and scared shitless in that upper room after Jesus was killed, says that the apostles were then "filled with the Holy Spirit", and that allowed the courage to go out and teach all nations. SO, may The Holy Spirit has something to do with courage too. WELL! Like you said on my blog a little while ago, this comment could go on and on. I guess I'll just stop here and turn the rest my thoughts from this wonderful post of yours into a post of mine! Nice work, kid!
First of all, it's hard to imagine ANYBODY who hasn't heard of Buggs! (By the way, does she have a running mate? I'm looking for something to do.) Sounds like a GREAT vacation!!!!! Isn't it great when the kids are old enough to pitch in??!! (By the way, my youngest son let us know last week that Mary and I are going to be GRANDPARENTS AGAIN!!!!!! (Hoping for a grandson this time!) Glad to have you back, Cindy. You've been missed!!
You're not going to believe this, but the same thing has been happening to me for some time now. It comes and goes throughout the year. It first began years ago when I moved back to CT from Maine. I panicked and ran to my doctor who told me that it had to do with pollutants in the air in CT. Sometimes taking Claritin or Allegra helps.
What a world, huh?
Where the @#$*&! did you come up with this?
Wow! Thanks for the tip! I'm always paranoid about my credit cards ever since I was the victim of credit card fraud a few years ago when somebody in San Diego got my number and charged over $5000 of airline tickets on it! (I've never been to San Diego in my life! Scary, huh?)
Our German Shepherd, Dixie, is the same way! After a single brushing, there's enough loose hair to stuff a king-sized mattress!
I too have read the Bible, and I too came away unfulfilled. I found reading the Bible to be a great study of history and psychology, but not very spiritual. As I grew older in The Church, I found myself getting more and more disillusioned. I spent a lot of time wondering what was wrong with me for not finding the Peace of God that the priests and my mother always talked about. I didn't really start finding that stuff until I began looking inside with meditation. Then, I started finding God everywhere. I'll discuss this in my last installment of MY posts on religion. By the way, this is really good stuff that you've written here! Not many people probe as deeply into things as you do. I'm enjoying your journey!
I agree with you Steve. The country is in desperate need of change, and I don't see it coming. The candidates may pay it lip service, but nobody really believes it. Unfortunately, your observation that we are now in a land of "government IN SPITE of the people is absolutely correct." We have not been a democracy for a long, long time.
I own cats and dogs. I just know that these were written by them!!!!
Like walking into a room on a mission, and then forgetting why you walked into the room in the first place! (I've got a GREAT memory. It's just short.)
Glad to hear that your sister is doing well! And how are you?
This post hits me on a few different levels. My Dad died from heart disease six years ago. After a massive heart attack, (his second one), he never stabilized. He was hospitalized for seven weeks until he finally succumbed. The cardiologist surmised that Dad lived with only 10% of his heart functioning for years, but he ignored all symptoms that anything was wrong. I'm glad your dad is doing better! I too know what's like to find your soul mate!I don't know what I'd do without Mary Ellen! Love the pic of the cat!
