I
do not plan on seeing anymore doctors (with one exception) the rest of
this year and of the 15 doctors I saw in 2008 I plan to fire 9-10 in
2009 and see 3 every 6 months and another 2, maybe, 3 times a year. I
will see my primary more often as I have to get my blood thinner
checked at least every other week plus there is a new development that
may require more visits at first. The math may not exactly add up but
there is a question about 2 of them.
I am also planning to change my
cardiologist because I don't really like him or have confidence in him.
He really doesn't listen to me.
I plan to cancel my January appointment with the gastroenterologist but will keep the one with the ENT because I am worried about my ear and throat plus the ophthalmologist
because my eyes are still red and 'gritty'. I don't see the vascular
surgeon until May when we will discuss my leg operations and I find it
a waste of time seeing the urologist 4 times a year for 2 minutes each
time. The dentist is when the loose tooth falls out or if I decide tohave it pulled.
I did see my
psychologist today and told him I won't be back the rest of the year
and will call him after the first of January to schedule anappointment
but I think he knows I don't plan to as of right now I don't. He is a
nice guy and a good listener but he hasn't really helped me that I can
tell.
I spoke to my primary about taking lexapro and he is all for it--so why didn't he give it to me before?!?!? He
says that none of his patients had a problem with it and only one
complained about side effects and that was erectile dysfunction which
doesn't concern me--if you want to know why e-mail me privately and I
will tell you! LOL He did
want me to check with my insurance to see whether they cover it or not
which I did when I got home and they do. I called his office and left a
message to that effect and am waiting for him to call me back and let
me know when he will call in the prescription, when I should start it
and what to expect as far as side effects. I do know weight gain is one
of the side effects which doesn't thrill me but I can keep that under
control if I want to.
He said I will be taking the lexapro and lorazapam to start but that I should soon find that I won't need the latter. I do
want to talk to him before I start taking it as, for some reason (the
'reviews' I read on WebMD.com???), I am a little afraid of it but if it will lift me from my every day doldrums, the 2-8 PM being drained, I will gladly go for it.
As I've mentioned before I have stopped taking the lorazapem during the day and only take it at night to go to sleep. The anxiety
attacks have been at a minimum and the ones I had didn't last long
enough to take a tranquillizer. I have also started to take my 6
medicines in the evening while only taking my warfarin (blood thinner) and vitamins in the morning.
Hopefully the next 7 weeks will go okay so I won't feel a need to do a weekly medical report except, maybe, report on the lexapro IF I start taking it before the first of the year--that is something I am deciding/thinking about now.

I am not doing that--just taking a vacation from doctors (except my primary) for next 7 weeks and then in 2009 evaluating those I have and eliminating those I don't need who just keep me coming for the money!
