I have been passing by this restaurant for 20+ years always expressing interest in trying it but keep on passing it by until today when we went for lunch and were treated by a friend.
When we entered though there were 5 staff walking around or behind the bar we weren't acknowledged until we started to seat ourselves. There were 2-3 guys at the bar and a couple at one of the tables, the latter, out-of-towners, were spending a few days in Fort Lauderdale before leaving on a cruise.
Since bread was not served with the main courses we ordered their special Guinness brown bread ($2.95) which wasn't anything special as a side. After asking what the server recommended Allen ordered the fish & chips ($15.95) and I had the Shepherds Pie ($14.95). Though Allen didn't say anything he did clean his plate! The Shepherds Pie was good but nothing to rave about.
We did make mistakes ordering the desserts as the bread pudding ($7.95) and the brownie toffee pudding ($8.95) weren't worth the price or the calories.
With Allen's diet cola ($2.50) and my coffee ($2.50) plus tax and tip the check came to $70
I am glad I finally got to eat at Waxy's Irish Pub but I hadn't really missed anything the past 20+ years!
PS I'm glad I didn't have to pay the check!
