The
last time Terry and Chuck were down here they brought a box of homemade
brownies. I believe each had one and I gobbled the rest--I'm sure Terry
remembers. The brownies were thick with chocolate, nuts and whatever
else they filled them with and were heavy to lift BUT melted like butter
in your mouth.
I
checked out their web page www.zestofmemphis.com and if I could have I
would have eaten the brownies, cakes and pies right off the monitor. As
it was I slobbered so much over it I had to wipe it down.
I won't go into much of their web page as you will really have fun reading and seeing it. Here is how it starts:
"After years as a school counselor and a lifelong interest and
passion for cooking, Lance Allred lived in Midtown Memphis where he
found that there was no good source for fresh, home-style baked goods.
Thinking that there must be others desiring a healthy yet quick meal in
Midtown, he began looking for people who would come together for a
casual meal, rather than patronizing a pricey restaurant or eating
mediocre food in their own home. Over
time, Lance Allred met Chris Haskins and began to formulate a plan to
meet the demand for fresh, quality food and baked goods.Zest Special
Events grew out of a desire to offer fresh-tasting food with a sense of
home and genuineness. So much of what we eat today has been mass
produced in large facilities, frozen, then shipped to various
business/restaurants, andeventually to you. What we offer is the
unmatched quality of food items made fresh in small batches, by human
hands, just the way you want.
Lance and Chris are taking their love of food and friendship and sharing it with Memphis. Every
recipe is made from scratch and every table and buffet designed to fit
your individual needs. No part of our business, from the recipes to the presentation, will ever look alike.
We
take pride in being able to fit our menu and set-ups to your individual
needs. As the idea for this business grew out of Lance and Chris’s own
dissatisfaction with available resources for fresh, homemade baked
goods, Zest offers customers advantages that appealed first to them."
Go
to their web page and hit on 'bakery' then 'brownies and bars'--at the
bottom of the page are their very reasonable prices--remember the mail
prices go up in January!! I haven't had a chance to get to the pies
yet!!!
By
the way just mention I sent you and then, maybe, Lance will send me on
of his new white chocolate brownies--hey, it doesn't hurt to ask!!!
By
the way I haven't had any trouble with his shipping packages for me and
getting them delivered in time--I just suggest you get your order in
early.
And
did I mention I wouldn't get insulted if you sent me some for Kwanzaa,
Hanukkah AND Christmas???? Oh did I mention that I will be 19 on
February 29, 2012????
