Trying Something New!

For two weeks I am testing a food plan where the food is delivered and you cook the meals at home. Initially, as a special, it will cost $34 a week for 6 meals which come to a little less than $6 a meal but there are the extras I will have to buy to make it a complete meal like salad makings, dessert, etc.

I will be making/tasting 12 meals to see how easy/hard/long it takes to make each meal—will also test for portion size, nutritional value, costs, what will have to be added to make a complete meal, satisfaction, plus and negatives if any, etc., and then will see if I will continue or cancel the plan.

This is the first meal:
Time: 25-35 minutes Ingredients (all included in the package): boneless/skinless chicken thighs, a small baguette, 1/2 lb cocktail tomatoes, 2 cloves garlic, 1/4 grated Parmesan cheese,2 Persian cucumbers, 1 oz Kalamata olives, 2 tbs. red wine vinegar, 2 tbs. mayonnaise and 1 tbsp Italian dressing

It's definitely an interesting system -- for those who like to cook. I think all food should appear magically prepared in front of me.

I do it the easy way--throw everything into the crockpot and hope for the best!!

Last spring I did a Blue Apron trial - three meals. It was fun to see how the ingredients were packaged, and what they sent. I decided it was important to follow the recipes closely, not mix and match to come up with meals from the pool of ingredients, because otherwise it would end up tasting like my usual cooking. It was definitely for people willing to put some time into meal prep. I found that the meals did indeed taste special, plus I learned some new techniques that I'm still using. And we're getting some re-use out of the ice packs and cooler box. I might do it again sometime in order to get some inspiration.

Improvised a little!!
Didn't know there were so many different places like this: Sun Basket, Plated are just 2 more and they all offer a 'deal' for the first couple of weeks--interesting! I may check them all out! (And save money!)
