We
got out of the movie at 3:30 and went to Pompano Park where the Isle of
Capri Casino is and where we were going to their Thanksgiving buffet.
Last year it had been very crowded so we were hoping there wouldn't be
too long a wait.
Surprisingly
we were seated right away. It was very quiet in both the restaurant and
the casino as compared to previous times we were there. Was everyone
out shopping? Is the economy bad enough that everyone was going to
Boston Market or eating at home? In any case we hit the spreads. Aside
from all the regular holiday foods I could take a whole page to list all
the offerings. Just to mention a few items: lamb, pork, ham, friend shrimp, tilapia stuffed with crab, eggplant parm, different kinds of pizza and pasta, all kinds of salads from tuna to seafood, sushi and so on.
It was the desserts that knocked me out as usual: pecan chocolate chip pie, carrot cake, petit fours, 6 flavors of ice cream, puddings, cherry crisp and so on. Here are just a few of the dessert sections.
And then I did some eating!! (Just a few items I had!)
After
we finished Keith wanted to gamble a little and I went to my penny
machine and lost a lot of pennies! In any case Allen came along and we
went looking for Keith. I strayed over to the Wheel of Fortune quarter
machine--way above my means and won $90.
The
movie cost $7.50 plus the buffet, with tip, $23.99 (eating a lot more
than $23.99) and I spent about $38 on the slots, winning that $90 I came
out ahead about $20 for the day so no complaints here. And let's not
forget the good company!!
DO I REALLY HAVE TO MENTION THAT I STARTED MY DIET TODAY--A FRIDAY!!!!!
