STATE OF DISGRACE:
When it comes to national rankings, Florida's education system is hardly at the head of the class:
Spending per student: 38th
Student to teacher ratio: 49th
Preschool spending: 34th
Testing placement: 12th
Smartest State ranking: 29th
High school graduation rate: 34th
INCOME DISPARITY WIDENS (AFTER 8 YEARS OF A REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT)
I was looking for the article on the Internet to C & P but couldn't find it--will just quote a few lines:
The difference in incomes between the richest and poorest U.S. families have widen as unemployment failed to decline to previous lows AND TAX CUTS BENEFITED THE WEALTHY.
Average incomes for the bottom fifth dropped 2.5% compared with a 9.1% gain for the top group.
Poorer and middle income families will find it harder to afford housing, education and health care.
The labor market in the 2000s was never really all that robust.
