Smokey Bones--a Restaurant Review

After the movie we decided to have something to eat. As it was 3:30 we thought more of a snack than a big meal. I had been inundated with ads, and $10 off coupons, from the Smokey Bones barbecue restaurant chain and since we weren't that far from it off we went.

The
restaurant has a very New England look and feel with lots of wood and
fireplaces that look like a TV set not to forget the 20 TV sets all
around the place, which seems to be the latest annoying trend in all
restaurants today.

Service was a little
slow as they had only one waiter on the floor--it was that in between
time--and he had about 4-5 parties spread all over the large dining
room.

We started off with a pan of cornbread with maple butter. The bread was warm, not hot, and the butter good and sweet.

After that we shared a plate of 9 mini sliders--3 each of beef, pork and chicken. The chicken were also called hotties and lived up to their name. The rolls they came on were tasteless  and
if it wasn't for the sauce on the rolls the whole dish would have been
tasteless.

For desert we had
'mile high chocolate' with vanilla ice cream. The cake was a high slice
and tasted good while the ice cream was too small a scoop.

They
have a 'bones card' for which you get a point for every dollar you
spend and after getting 200 points you get a $20 off coupon. With the
prices they charge for ribs and main dinner courses it wouldn't be hard
to get that coupon.

I was not impressed
with anything--setting, service, food, but will give them one more
chance and will be fair and order the ribs or pulled pork.
