Salsa Fiesta--a Restaurant Review

As most ‘fast casual’, as they seem to be referred to today,
Salsa Fiesta is bright and cheery and most of the help seems to be. I
don’t know why franchise owners don’t go that extra step and make the
cashier/order taker/ order deliverer an official server so they can earn
more tips. Though there is a tip jar near the register most people seem
to ignore it or just throw the coins they get for change into it.

We
walked in around 6 PM and the place was empty. Whether the fact that
their outside sign hadn’t come on yet had anything to do with it I did
notice when the sign came on, more people came in. It is in a shopping
center at the far north end and hard to see so with it getting darker
earlier maybe they should change the timer.

In
any case the ‘host’ Ariagnas took our order giving us plenty of time to
look over the extended menu and after paying her we went and got our
sodas, sat down, having to wipe the table as it had the previous eater’s
scraps on it.

Allen and I had the fajitas combo
(it is very easy to miss the extra dollar charge for the combo, which
doesn’t make sense as it is $10.99 for either all chicken or steak) at
$11.99 each plus a diet soda at $2.25 each. They came on the usual
sizzling platter with the meat on top of onions and peppers with a
choice of 4 different type of tortillas or a lettuce wrap. We were
served, on the side, a healthy portion of sour cream, pico de gallo,
guacamole and a small portion of shredded cheese. All in all it tasted
very good.

I was disappointed in that most
Mexican restaurants I have eaten in always give you a portion of chips
and salsa to nibble on while waiting for your main course but not here.

We
had a groupon for $12 entitling us to $20 worth of food so our check
came to $7.93 making the dinner well worth it but if we were paying
regular prices it would have been $30 without that little bit extra of
complete table service.

I would order fajitas because they come with all those sides to fuss around with, but since that stuff often comes with quesadillas, I usually get those because I don't have to wrestle with chunks of meat and vegetables.

But it is the wrestling that's fun though they never give you enough tortillas!
