I
love my Sunday rut which consists of taking a walk around the Gateway
property with my digital camera. I’ve written about the many different
trees we have but the flowers, bushes and plants way out number them.
From the white bird of Paradise that is 3 stories tall to pink roses and
all colors of Hibiscus the variety of blooms is never ending and it
takes place all over the year. There is never NOT something in bloom
and Mother Nature does a great timing job.
I have 24 plants IN my
apartment and there are 16 right outside my door on the third floor
walkway. From that walkway I can see from downtown Fort Lauderdale to
Fort Lauderdale beach as we are right in the middle. Surrounded by the
yachts in Karen Bay and the Goodyear blimp flying overhead in the blue
skies with white tufts of clouds the sight of all the greenery from
avocado and palm trees to the purple blooms of the Queen crepe myrtle
trees cascading down the sides add up to a living Eden.
Sometimes
South Florida is referred to as G-d’s waiting room--if it is there
isn’t a better place to wait or more things to do while you are waiting,
like taking a walk on a Sunday afternoon with 79 degree temperature and
a cool breeze from the ocean floating across all that Mother Nature has
provided.
