2013-2014 Broadway Touring Season in Ft. Lauderdal

Just got the notice regarding
what touring Broadway Musicals will be coming to the Broward Performing
Arts Center next season--also at that time the BPAC will have finished,
hopefully if it is on schedule, with their renovations. Of the 6 I will be seeing 4 for the first time which is always a treat!

Broadway season at Broward Center 2013-2014

The musicals presented by
Broadway Across America are:

"Chicago," Oct. 9-20: Long before reality TV made being famous for being famous a thing, a talent triumvirate of Bob Fosse, John Kander and Fred Ebb came up with this glitzy-yet-grimy tale of fame, fortune and all that jazz. ChicagoTheMusical.com

“The Book of Mormon,” Nov. 26-Dec. 22: Matt Stone and Trey Parker
- the four-time Emmy winning creators of “South Park” - stormed
Broadway with this irreverent musical about two naive missionaries in
Uganda facing a warlord bent on female circumcision. Doesn’t sound
funny? Well, you don’t know Stone and Parker. The show not only won
glowing critical acclaim, but nine Tony Awards (including Best Musical)
and a Grammy. BookOfMormonBroadway.com

“The Wizard of Oz,” Jan. 7-19, 2014: Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new production of the MGM movie musical classic keeps the Yip Harburg/Harold Arlen score and adds a few tunes from Tim Rice and Webber. WizardOfOzTheMusical.com

“Memphis,” Feb. 25–March 9, 2014: With a Tony-winning score from Bon Jovi’s David Bryan
and inspired by actual events, “Memphis” is about a white DJ who breaks
the color line of 1950s-era radio by playing R&B-infused rock ‘n’
roll. MemphisTheMusical.com

“American Idiot,” March 25-April 6, 2014: Based on Green Day’s
multi-platinum album, this musical marries thrashing punk rock with
Broadway visuals. The story is of three friends in a post 9/11 world
trying to find their way as a neo-Lost Generation. The hits include “21
Guns,” “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” “Holiday,” “Wake Me Up When
September Ends” and the title track. AmericanIdiotTheMusical.com

“Ghost The Musical,” April 29-May 11, 2014: It’s a
story you already know since the 1990 movie was a huge hit with Whoopi
Goldberg, Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze. But you probably don’t know the
stage musical with a score by Dave Stewart (the Eurythmics) and Glen Ballard (collaborated with everyone from Michael Jackson and Alanis Morisstte to Van Halen and Katy Perry). GhostTheMusical.com

Shows will be staged at Broward Center for the Performing Arts,
201 SW Fifth Ave., Fort Lauderdale. Season tickets for the six-show
package range from $177 to $570. Contact: 800-764-0700 or
