Burgers--red
meat--big burgers are back and how! Every week there is a new 'best
burger' contest and restaurants are daring their customers to eat pound+
burgers. I, unabashedly, have always loved cheeseburgers, have never given them up and will usually judge a restaurant by them.
After
the movie we decided to go to the new ROK:BRGR GASTROPUB the 'new kid
in town' which features specialty burgers and a burger bar where you
choose what you want plus I had a $10 off coupon.
I
had the ROK:BRGR ($12) and Allen had the Australian ($13). He
thoroughly enjoyed his while I was disappointed in mine and told the
server why when he asked me. He immediately offered to make another one
but I declined. It seems like all of a sudden bacon is the food of the
moment with even Denny's offering a bacon sundae and one of my
complaints was that the bacon on the burger was in a clump and more than
crisp. I had ordered the meat cooked medium rare and it was medium
almost mediumwell done. The fries were nothing special.
The burgers were definitely big and Allen ate his with a knife and fork while I just cut mine in half.
Our
check came to $6.50 with the tax, minus the $10 coupon I had, plus the
tip. They also have a special on Wednesday, all day, with all burgers
half price. At that price I might give them a second chance but at
regular prices our check would have been around $16 each which I feel is
a little high for a cheeseburger and way over-priced when not good.
A major problem, and something that has to be taken into consideration, is the parking, which is hard to find and expensive.
