Don't Retire--it is Too Much Work! Part 3

I just received the schedule for
the 2011-2012 season of Broadway Across America for both Fort Lauderdale
and Miami. Between traveling to Miami to the *Adrienne Arsht Center of
Performing Arts and fighting traffic to go to the *Broward Performing
Arts Center, going out for dinner before or after each show, having to
spend hours to write reviews for *www.corinescorner.com and
www.viewpoints.com a lot of my time is consumed! (Trust me--I AM NOT COMPLAINING!)

*

(* I have to give them a plug--they are the ones paying for the tickets! LOL)

One
of the BIG surprises is regarding my 19th Leap Year birthday on
February 29, 2012--I have mentioned before that I was starting to search
around for how I will celebrate as I do a 'gala' every 4 years, but it
looks like my problem is semi-solved as the opening night of "Billy
Elliot", a musical I am really looking forward to seeing, is that night.
Now all I have to do is find a place for a party lunch!

******************************************************

This is the schedule for all the musicals I will be seeing including the rest of this season--poor little me!

"In the Heights" March 29

"Wicked" March 30
"Hair" June 7
"Mamma Mia"
"Rain" October 4 (a Repeat)
"The Addams Family" October 25
"Disney's Beauty and the Beast" November 15
"Shrek The Musical" December 6
"Million Dollar Quartet" December 27
"Jersey Boys" January 11 (A repeat)
"Billy Elliot The Musical" February 29
"Twyla Tharp's Come Fly Away"  March 20
"Rogers & Hammerstein's South Pacific" April 10
"Disney's The Lion King" May 17
"La Cage Aux Folles" June 12

*************************************************

I
am looking forward to seeing "Billy Elliot", "La Cage" ( I saw the
original production in NYC in 1983 and loved it) and "Come Fly Away".

This
past season I saw "Rain" and "Jersey Boys" in Miami but I will force
myself to see them again :o) (No one else can use the tickets.)

I
did see the 'live' performance of this revival of "South Pacific" on
PBS but this is a show you just don't get tired of seeing.

I
saw "The Lion King" a few years ago in Fort Lauderdale and the opening
'parade' is something to behold while the curtain calls at the end of
"Mamma Mia" had the audience dancing in the aisles--even me--a couple of
years ago when it was at The Broward Center.

"Hair"
will bring back memories of when I was a 'hippie' making love and the
nudity that was still shocking on stage, while "Shrek" should bring a
smile or two.

"Beauty
and the Beast" has a good score and had an excellent production on
Broadway and I hope the touring company has retained the latter.

The
only two I am hesitant about are "Million Dollar Quartet"--don't hate
me--as I am not a fan of Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis or that era of rock and roll
and "The Addams Family" as Nathan Lane wowed them on Broadway and a lot
will depend on who is the star on tour.

*************************************************

Look,
this retirement business is hard work but someone has to do it and I am
just trying to save someone else from having to toil and labor. Now you
must admit that is nice of me!

the modest man becomes bold;

the sly, confident;

the lazy, active;

or the impetuous, prudent and peaceful."

At last--some sympathy---thank you, thank you, thank you!

I think the Lion King is the most wonderful thing, all those clever costumes, and the way they suck the 'lake' into the stage to illustrate the drought.

I thought the opening number was dazzling!
