Restaurant, Ice Cream, Hit, Clothes, Heat and More

Why is it so hard
to fi
nd 4 dining room/kitchen chairs with arms? If you are lucky you
might fi
nd two but I have been looking for awhile without any luck but I will keep on trying. What brought this on was
that after Allen finished we we were talking about where to have lunch and I mentioned I wanted to go to the consignment shop in Wilton Manors
called Out of the Closet so we decided to eat at Tropics on Wilton Manor
Drive. We hadn't been there in awhile and we had lunch cards
which after you have paid for 9 lunches you get 1 free. One of the
things we enjoyed about Tropics, and made it a little
different from other lunch places was that they offered a fairly
elaborate salad buffet to go along with your main course. It's off
season here in South Florida so guess what? Yep, they have eliminated
the salad bar 'for the summer'! Could that be why the place had only
about 7 lunch customers?

By the
way Allen had spent the weekend at the "Celebration of Friends" to do
at the Hilton and had a great time---yes, by the time he got home he was
tuckered out! Wouldn't you know it that at Tropics he met one of his
'friends' who he will possibly see this coming weekend--don't know what
we are going to do with these kids!  {#rofl.gif}

At Out of the Closet I did see a dining room set with 8 chairs of which 2
had arms but, for some reason ({#basic-cool.gif}), they
wouldn't break the set up. I did buy 2 shirts, which when I got home
were way too big for me but there is one that is so far out I had to get
it and will definitely be wearing, not to mention taking pictures of me
wearing it!

For some reason,
don't ask me why, every time we are in Wilton Manors, and sometimes when we aren't we go
there, to stop at Dairy Queen' Allen gets a blizzard and I get a waffle cone with
vanilla ice cream dipped in chocolate. Hey, it's been over 90 degrees,
with feel like 100+, every day for the past 30 days.

For those who have been reading my day time
blog I have been doing a series on the Stonewall riots which I will
conclude tomorrow but meanwhile the following was reported by
365gaynews.com--- about one of the very brave women who fought that
evening--give her a thought now--she certainly deserves it.

(41 YEARS LATER--FROM YESTERDAY'S--JUNE 29, 2010-- HEADLINES)
As we bask in our post Pride glow, it’s probably good to remember Storme DeLarverie . She will turn 90 this
upcoming December, suffers from dementia, and was on the front line of the
Stonewall riot. DeLarverie,
also known as drag king performer M.C., missed this
year’s parade as she sat in a nursing home room.

There is some dispute if DeLarverie was the cross dressing
lesbian attacked
by the police, the spark for the riot. However, all agree she was there
fighting
along with everyone else when they had enough of police mistreatment.

DeLarverie’s friends see her situation as
doubly tragic. There is her
inability to take care of herself (this past March she was found disoriented in
her Chelsea Hotel room). Secondly no one knows her,  or why she is an
important
historical figure.“The young gays and lesbians today have never heard of her,” said Lisa
Cannistraci, a longtime friend,  “and most of our activists are
young. They’re
in their 20s and early 30s.
The community that’s familiar with her is
dwindling.”

Is that your new shirt in the first photo? I love ice cream! I think I'll put a scoop on my rhubarb pie shortly!

No--the shirt is a red and black Chinese kimono looking shirt--I haven't bought something this 'wild' in a long time
