P. F. Chang's--a Restaurant Review

As most of you know Allen usually comes by on Wednesday to take me on my errands--like buying the winning Lotto ticket--HA!!--then we usually go for lunch.

When Chuck and Terry were here, and we passed the Galleria Mall where a new restaurant opened recently called P.F.Chang's, they said it was a chain and that they had one in Memphis. today we decided to give it a try. I knew it would be a little more expensive than we usually spend for lunch because the Galleria Mall has upscale stores like Neiman-Marcu, Saks Fifth Avenue, etc. and I wasn't surprised by the prices though they weren't THAT high! LOL

Previously the site had housed the Red Tavern which had the best (and biggest piece) carrot cake but was so mismanaged that it eventually closed.

They really didn't change the place much--a few bland murals and some indistinct hanging boxes--still has a very high ceiling and cold dark browns--not a comfortable place.

Okay, let's get to the food--I don't think you will want to kiss me tonight--I had a side of garlic snow peas and for me main course garlic noodles--both mediocre though the latter had some heat--puzzling to me was they served rice along with my noodles. Allen had P.F. Chang's Fried Rice with shrimp, pork, beef and chicken--it was a very large portion but tasted slightly burnt to me though he didn't think so.
For dessert we SPLIT--yes we were trying to behave--The Great Wall Of Chocolate--six layers of rich chocolate cake frosted with semi-sweet chocolate chips served with raspberry sauce and blueberries. And, yes, it was good!! Our beverage of choice was water--and as a waiter I use to sneer at customers who just ordered water automatically calling them cheap--things change as you get old!!

With a 20% tip it cost us $16 each which isn't bad but a few more dollars than would warrant a second trip there for lunch. (Hey, Allen wants to go to South America this summer and I need to start saving for my Leap Year birthday in 2012!!)

When I got home I checked out their web page---www.pfchangs.com--I shouldn't have because they give nutritional break downs for all their dishes--the bottom line is that I ate 1515 in calories, 42 grams of protein, 263 grams of carbs, 134 grams of fat, 6.5 grams of saturated fat and 11.54 grams of fiber--except for the fats I did stay under my allotment for the day but it looks like a very small supper for me.

I have eaten in the Orlando, FL of P.F. Chang's once. The food was okay. The portions were large. The prices weren't that bad. I walked away fairly unimpressed and wondering why my uncle, who took me there, was son enamored with the place!

Good grief! 1515!!! We have a Millenia Mall here that has a P.F. Chang's. I've never been. I like the Cheesecake Factory better. Love the salads there! (I've only tasted their cheesecake one time in the past and I still remember how great it was.)

1515 calories?! Good Lord Martin! I cheated and has a bacon cheeseburger at Bob Evans with Rog. I'm sure I'm probably at the same amount of calories.

We just had a PF Changs open here. Also in the high end of new retails store. I haven't eaten there, thanks for the informative post.
