Olive Garden--a Restaurant Review

"..giving the dining experience an overall great experience."  "...renowned Italian restaurant, Olive
Garden"  "...the food was superb." "...looking for a great Italian
place to eat that had a variety of dishes. A place that we found and
enjoyed was Olive Garden" "This is a "must-eat"

I read
reviews, like those above, and I wonder if these people have ever eaten
in a family owned Italian restaurant or in an Italian family's home.
There is no resemblance between Italian food and what is served at the
Olive Garden!

They do have a good lunch deal with all the bread sticks,
soups and salad you can eat for $6.95 but we are not talking Italian
here.  The soups, like all their main courses, are bland while the bread sticks cry out for garlic. The salad, with oil, olives and peppercinos at least has a bite to it.

We hadn't been there is awhile and since they were offering the salad, soup, bread sticks deal with a panini
with $2 off the latter we went there for lunch. Allen ordered the
chicken ($8.95) and I ordered the steak ($9.95) and we shared them. The
only thing that saved the former was the pesto and the latter had some
taste because of the herb spread but otherwise it was as bland as the
sauces the Olive Garden serves on their frozen dinners.

This
is a chain restaurant and, like most chains, the food is massed
produced and almost spiceless so that they can serve the majority of the
public.

With all due respect, even though they do, please don't use Italian and Olive Garden in the same sentence.

We ate at an Olive Garden in Las Vegas and it was excellent - well-prepared food, great service. I think all those chains are at the mercy of the local labor pool's skills.

Furthermore! The last (actually, second to last) time I ate there, the service was bloody awful (lunch). No table setting, wrong food, long wait. I complained to headquarters and received complimentary whatevers. THAT was the last time I ever ate there!

I totally agreed with you.Olive Garden is not an Italian whatsoever.
I mentioned a few years back how people brag about the wonderful Italian food. One time I had eggplant parmigiana and it was bloody awful.
It was microwaved as you can tell. The bread stick I do not touch.
I want real Italian bread. This restaurant is mostly Americanized with so called Italian food. The reason why so many people loved it for it taste good to them with plenty of sodium.I detect Olive Garden.Have not been there for awhile. They tried to do you a favor on the cheese.Would you like some cheese on your salad and dinner.Almost said, just leave the cheese here and I will take care of it.
You are so right.Olive Garden is a faux.
