Friends with Benefits--a Movie Review

In "Friends With Benefits" Mila Kunis is cute and sexy while Justin Timberlake is cute and hunky! They both handle light comedy as pros and they have chemistry unlike the teaming of Ashton Kuchner and Natalie Portman in a similar themed movie a few months ago called "No Strings Attached".

The director, Will Gluck, and the writers, Keith Merryman, David A. Newman and Will Gluck, have made a romantic comedy along with making a film that makes fun of romantic comedies, even as far as to show a bogus romantic comedy and have Timberlake make fun of the musical scores in usually hear in them.

The
film is fast paced as are the one liners and all the actors put spin on
their roles that elicit more laughs. There are3 few laugh out loud
jokes but enough to keep a smile on your face.  The director of
photography shows a shiny, new New York city and a green, lush Los Angeles.

Patricia Clarkson as Kunis's stuck in the 1970s mother gets in the romantic comedy pacing while Jenna Elfman, whom I almost didn't recognize, as Timberlake's sister and Richard Jenkins, as his father with the onset of Alzheimers, add the emotional gravitas that romantic comedies have to have. Woody Harrelson sparkles, no pun intended, as a gay male sportswriter who is who he is
and steals most of the scenes he is in. There are two flash mob scenes
that neither adds or takes away from the film but does allow the leads
their 'aha' moment.

All in
all Timberlake and Kunis are easy on the eyes, the supporting cast it
strong, the writing quick, the movie enjoyable and a good escape from
the heat outside but it is missing that certain 'something' and you will
forget it 10 minutes after seeing.
