Mother Nature Always Does the Unexpected

In
December 2011 my Christmas cactus didn't bloom as it usually did and
instead came into bloom for my Leap Year birthday on February 29, 2012.
As it didn't bloom last month I am wondering if it will do the same
thing this February or what else Mother Nature has up her sleeve.

In
any case in June 2012 I went into The Home Depot and saw the plant
called a Siam Tulip. I had never heard of it but I saw the picture on
the directions of how to take care of it and bought one. The collage
above shows how it blossomed. By October it has stopped blooming and I
was going to give it to my neighbot Irene to plant in our building
garden but just forgot.

At
Thanksgiving I noticed a small bud on one of the stems and by Christmas
I had two flowers in bloom and they are still going strong. I took the
pictures below 3 days before Christmas. Looks like Irene will not be
getting this plant--yet!

Wow! Beautiful!
I have such a brown thumb when it comes to plants. They have mocked me at work for the number of plants I have killed in my office. The one exception is a nice bamboo and a cactus. Go figure!

I do pretty good with plants but don't ask me how or why--it might be I sing to them every morning??????

You do good with plants. I grow spider plants indoors. Basil on the windowsill is still barely alive. No flowers indoors.

I told AJ my secret--I sing to them--they grow so I'll shut up!
