(THIS IS NOT ME--THE REST ARE LOL)
What
is it about us men when we get a little older and our hair starts to
recede? As a rule if a man has a pony tail or a braid trailing down his
back or just has long hair cascading in the back he is lacking hair in
the front! Do we think one compensates for the other? It doesn't, does it?
I
always had a thing about my hair. When I was younger, even in my 30s
and 40s, I had a full head of hair even having to have it thinned out
once in awhile. In the 1970s men started having 'hair stylists' not
barbers and I went along with the 'in' crowd. I had a perm when perms
were in and an Afro when white guys started wearing them. I would have
gray sprayed into the temples to make me look older, distinguished. I
won't get into all the beards, mustaches and sideburns.
It
was in my 50s that I noticed the hair thinning on the top of my head
and the hairline moving back and back so I did what most men do--I let
my hair and beard grow not trimming the latter or cutting the former for
a year. I must admit I looked like Santa Claus, without the belly, and
like I was homeless!
The
day I retired I decided enough of this nonsense and that twice a year I
would get a crew cut and no more beard(s) though I did deviate once by having my whole head shaved.
Living
in a senior complex it is fun to watch the men get older and their hair
get longer in the back until the day they realize it doesn't help.
I
am not a betting man but I will bet you that the next guy, over 50, who
has long hair on the back of his head he is missing it in front and/or
on top!
