I had a bad night (which means very little sleep)
last night so I waited patiently until my doctor's office opened and
called and the receptionist said he would call me as soon as he could.
I decided, instead, to go to his office and just hope he could see me,
which he did. I explained the lack of sleep, the anxiety, etc. We
talked for about a half hour and he said right now his aim is to get me
relaxed, anxiety free--he gave me a new drug plus told me to take one xanax in the morning and one at night--he doesn't seem at all concerned about my getting an addiction to xanax or the new drug Budeprion--it supposedly can 'improve your mood and feelings of well being'.
I am now taking:
Flomax 0.4 mg 1 a day Simvastatin 40 mg 1 a day Warfarin 5 mg 1 a day Alprazolam (xanax) 0.25 mg 2 a day Digoxin 250 mcg 1 a day Budeprion XL 150 mg 1 a day Avodart 0.5 mg 1 a day
I, also, take a multi vitamin and vitamin C.
(By the way I give ALL my doctors a copy of this list.)
What's scary is when you read the side effects of these medicines--here are just a few of ONE medicine---drowsiness,
dizziness, slurred speech, clumsiness, trouble walking, yellowing of
eyes and/or skin, rash, itching, swelling, trouble breathing---won't
even mention the other side effects of the other medicines like dry
mouth, seizures, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, headache, loss of
appetite, trouble sleeping, etc and then they add, 'Your doctor has
prescribed this medication because he has judged that the benefit to
you is greater than the risk of side effects'. Doesn't that make you
feel all warm and fuzzy---NOT!!
In today's
world of medicine you have to hope your doctor knows what he is doing
and what/how all these medicines affect your body and interact with
each other--also helps to have a good pharmacist!!!!
