As the Rogers and Hammerstein song says, "You've got to be taught before you are 6, 7 or 8 , to hate the  people your relatives hate..." This kid learned well.

H.S. Column Calls for Death to Gays- Oscar Nominated Mark Ruffalo Supports Gay Marriage- Thrice Married Trump Says No to Gay Marriage- Tampa Bay Attorney Named President of LGBT Bar Association
H.S. Column Calls for Death to Gays
A high school student published an opinion article Feb. 11 in East
High School’s newspaper, The Messenger in Wichita Kansas. He wrote such
things as same-sex relationships are “just not normal” and “should be
frowned upon.”

The author also cited Bible verses to make his argument against the
LGBT community. In particular he cited Bible verse, Leviticus 20:13: “If
a man also lie with man, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have
committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood
shall be upon them.”

District Officials, editors, and the newspaper adviser told The
Wichita Eagle that the column is protected by the First Amendment and
the Kansas Student Publications Act.

Jessica Thomas, a senior at East High and one of the newspaper's
editors, told the Eagle that she and her colleagues "knew the column
could possibly be controversial."

She added: "We don't necessarily agree or disagree. It's one person's
personal opinion. But just because something can possibly be offensive
does not mean we have the obligation to block the publishing of that
material."

Critics though argue that the column crosses the line.
James Pryor, president of the Wichita chapter of the Center for Human
Rights, told the Eagle: "[Every student] has every right to say what he
wants to say, but to publish it is different. To basically say people
should be killed — that incites danger. We believe the district dropped
the ball on this one."

The article in question “Homosexual teens alienated by current social
trends” can still be found on the high school newspaper’s website at
ehsmessenger.com.

The reporter also states “same sex dating should be frowned upon”
because gay marriage is not legal therefore gays should not date.

He writes: “It is a social disruption in many cases, and should be
kept out of school to ensure our educational mission with as little of a
distraction as possible.”

(Mmmm--opposite sex dating isn't a distraction? Teenage pregnancy isn't a distraction? STD's, including being HIV+ or having AIDS isn't distracting? )

Oscar Nominated Mark Ruffalo Supports Gay Marriage
Actor Mark Ruffalo, who stars in the Oscar nominated movie The Kids
Are Alright, recently appeared with his wife Sunrise in a video
supporting gay marriage.

The video is a part of a New Yorkers for Marriage Equality campaign.
“We believe everyone should have the right and chance to be with the
person they love straight or gay,” Mark said. His wife added: “We’re
raising our three kids to treat everybody with dignity and respect.
Join
us in supporting everyone’s equal right to marry.”

Julianne Moore, a co-star of Ruffalo’s in The Kids Are Alright, also has a video supporting gay marriage.
Other notable figures appearing in videos of their own include
comedian Joan Rivers, actress Whoopi Goldberg, Mayor of New York City
Michael Bloomberg and daughter of former President George W. Bush,
Barbara Bush.

The campaign is backed by the Human Rights Organization.

Thrice Married Trump Says No to Gay Marriage
Real estate mogul, Donald Trump, recently told Greta Van Susteren on
Fox News that he’s against gay marriage, but otherwise loves the gay
community.

“I'm just not in favor of gay marriage. I live in New York. New York is a place with lots of gays, and I think it is great.”
Trump, 64, is considering a run for the presidency in 2012 and
recently spoke at the Conservative Political Action Conference in
Washington D.C.

Trump is currently married to Melania Knauss, who is 24 years his junior.
(Yes he is a good example of heterosexual marriage---NOT)

Tampa Bay Attorney Named President of LGBT Bar Association
Tampa attorney O. Kim Byrd was elected President of the National LGBT
Bar Association during their annual board meeting in Atlanta, GA.

The LGBT Bar is an affiliate of the American Bar Association and its
membership includes lawyers, judges, other legal professionals, and law
students, as well as affiliated local LGBT bar organizations. The LGBT
Bar promotes justice in and through the legal profession for the LGBT
community in all of its diversity.

Stated Byrd: “At a time when our legal system often serves as the
battlefield in the struggle for winning basic human rights, there has
never been a greater need for LGBT and allied legal professionals to
stand up, speak out, and fight discrimination wherever it arises.”

Byrd was recently recognized as an outstanding pro-bono attorney for
Bay Area Legal Services, a public interest law firm that provides free
legal services to low-income clients. Byrd has been practicing law for
more than 20 years, and has targeted his practice toward helping
community members protect their loved ones through the areas of family
law and estate planning.
