This is the original Detecto scale that I weighed in at WW in NYC and it has been with me ever since 1969 when I took it on my move to Memphis--it is as accurate as ever and I balance it every week before I weigh in.

The joke on it is almost as old as the scale--it is a Beetle Bailey cartoon--in the first panel Beetle says to Sarge, "Gained a little weight, Sarge" and Sarge answers, "Oh yeah? Whaddah you know?" In the second panel Beetle says, "I know that guys who LOSE weight don't change the knobs when they get off!"
Okay, what I weighed when may not mean anything to you but it has always been important to me--I believe I have fought weight for as long as I accepted my being gay--over 60 years.
But this is only a small part of the records I have kept over the years. I believe I was 11 years old when I got my first diary--my Aunt Flo gave it to me and said that someday I would be famous and that I should keep a record of the road I took to get there, so I did.
She knew that you have it.(talent that is)
