When I left home I left all my diaries behind and started anew in 1956.
Just some entries:
February 21, 1967--Washington's birthday (NO President's Day back in the old days!!! LOL) busy--13 on the floor (I was working at The Brass Rail then)--cold windy day--after work Mary May, Her husband, daughter and son-in-law celebrated the latter's birthday at Dan Dowd's
February 21, 1970--Bernie went with Jim who he met at Goldsmith's and I went with trick to Holiday Inn who I met at JB Hunters (I'm cleaning some of this up, folks!!)
April 7 & 8, 1978--went to St Louis to see the touring production of "A Chorus Line"--on the 7th I took Doug (seats Q 14 and 16) and on the 8th, for the matinee, took Dr. K (sears W 117 and 119)--he was as blown away with the show as I was from the first time I saw it--that night Doug and I went to the evening performance--the cast was staying at the Holiday Inn and we got to meet most of them in the bar!
In the back of the diaries are a lot of various information--when I was working as a waiter how many servers were on the floor, how many tables I had, how much money I made--when I was working in the weight reduction field I have records what I wore to the classes, how many were in the class, how the big losers were doing, etc. I, also, made remarks regarding the weather and, yes, who, when, how and where I had sex with but we won't get into that.
I have records of what movies and plays I went to see and with whom and what I thought about them--the plays and movies and, yes, the person I went with.
I know when I met people, when people died, when their birthday was, etc. A lot of trivia but a lot of fun to read and remember back to years ago--memories that I forgot and people I both remember and don't.
There are records of important days in my life, average days and bad days. Some I can laugh at, some bring a tear many no reaction.
I don't read them often, most of the time they stay in the back of the closet on the shelf but if I need to remember something or a date it's there for me.
Pick a date and I'll tell you what I was doing, where I was living, what the weather was like that day, yes, even, probably what I was wearing!!!
I don't care how old you are--15 or 50--start a diary TODAY--look at it 10 years from now and recall the foolish things you did, the things you worried about at that time in your life, how and if you have changed, how you thought, etc. and, yes, even the things you forgot about THAT person!! :O)
Part 3--learn from my mistakes!!!
