First of all I want the house Iron Man has in Malibu and then I want his iron suit with red highlights!!! Oh, but that house!!
I am a great admire of Robert Downey, Jr. as an actor. He is concise in his speech and knows how to deliver a laugh line. His body is sculptured but not overly done and his mustache is a character of it's own. He is certainly believable as a women chaser, a boozer just as he is believable as an overachiever and a gadget genius and he has some very funny bits with 'his' robots.
At first Jeff Bridges is almost unrecognizable and really isn't a first rate villain but he supplies what is needed in opposing Iron Man. A more interesting villain is Faran Tahir who along with looking menacing has a lot of masculine appeal.
The film is fast, energetic, interesting with a few, to me, big missteps.
Terrence Howard is wasted in a throw away role. I am not particularly a fan of Gwyneth Paltrow but she does deliver a few sharp lines with a tinge of humor. I just don't see her as sexy or strong enough as a love interest.
There is an aerial fight that I suppose has to be in a picture of this sort but I found it time wasting and there is a laughable Iron Man VS another Iron Man fight that is harking back to Godzilla VS King Kong and every other villain VS. hero fight without anything new added.
Is it a good film? I wouldn't quite say that but it was a pleasant way of spending 2 hours watching a genre that I usually don't go to see and this will probably be my 'hero' movie of the year--not counting Indiana Jones!!!
