International House of Pancakes--restaurant Review

Between
IHOPs, Denny's or the House of Pancakes I will always choose an IHOP,
especially for their cheese omelets with a small stack of pancakes or a
light quick bite. Service has always been good at this location even
though there usually is only one server on the floor who does everything
a server normally does plus acts as cashier and bus person and doesn't
ever seem to get help from anyone on staff. (Now if Denny's with at
least 2 servers, a cashier, bus person and a couple of managers would
only give service!)

It being Sunday, wanting something light, and
with the boat show in town, I suggested this particular IHOP and wasn't
disappointed except for one, not major, mistake. The server greeted us
at the door, asked what we wanted to drink and immediately brought the
coffee, water and diet Pepsi.

I ordered the turkey club without the
bacon, only 2 slices of bread and with a slice of onion and a side of
fruit. I knew what mistake would be made and it was--it was made with 3
slices of bread, not two.
Rick ordered a plate consisting of eggs, hash browns and a side of pancakes.
The check came to $20.10 plus a $4 tip coming to $12.05 each
For a full service restaurant IHOP, at least this one, always seems to deliver and I have been coming here for about 14 years.

Every so often someone files a racial discrimination lawsuit against Denny's for poor service, and I always say they don't discriminate: they give poor service to everyone. I really like it when a restaurant has a side of pancakes with an egg meal, it seems like such a bonus.

I agree--I remember when church groups would sue Denny's---I only go there when I don't have to be any place after!

I only know of one IHOP and that was on Long Isladn. It's gone, and I haven't been there anyway so it doesn't matter. It was the only place I knew of to get eggs benedict. I order it once at Sweet Sue's in Phoenicia and got severely chewed out by the server (who knew me) for ordering such a thing in Sweet Sue's which had been written up in the NY Times for having the best pancakes in the Catskill Region. If if wasn't for the damn sauce I'd make it myself... just have to keep looking for a breakfast joint, I suppose...

Kitchentales is going to post an easier sauce recipe that you might try. I tried to make 'that sauce' one time and really struggled, and I cook all the time, so it's not as if I'm inept at the stove.

You would love Ft. Lauderdale--EVERY restaurant seems to make them especially on Sunday and some even know how to make them the right way!
