Inception--a Movie Review

I had quite a few problems
with this movie and  some of it had to do with understanding part of the
plot. Oh I got the idea of 3 layers of dreams, each deeper, and the
reality equivalent, than the previous one and all 3 occurring at the
same time but I didn't get the 'punch line'. It could be that, as far as
I know, I don't dream---I know, I know, everybody dreams--or at least I
don't remember them.

This is a loud movie of one special effect after another
and, yes, all are spectacular with one chase after another--actually 3
at a time each one happening on another dream level--also each
spectacular. Cliches are all over the place such as the leader of a gang
'doing one last job, his putting his crew together, the symbolic
'Rosebud' --a movie fan knows what that is about--a safe that has to be
broken into--not to forget the villain.

Inception is one of those
rare movies--an original in the summertime, not a sequel, not a remake
but a movie that does try to be new. It has an excellent cast though I
am still waiting for Marion Cotillard to get another
role like the one that won her an Oscar. There are a few recognizable faces like Michael Caine, doing a little more than a
walk on,  Ellen Page, who adds nothing to the film or her part but
probably got a good paycheck
, Tom Berenger growing more
distinguished looking with every movie plus a few, 'I know the face but
what's his name?' actors such as Cillian Murphy who plays the man whose dream will be 'incepted'.

And then there is Leonardo DiCaprio! He is
not aging well as far as looks go and he plays the same type of
character as he did in "Shutter's Island", keeping his emotions inside,
having a furrowed brow and an unfeeling heart. Leaving the movie all I
could think of is that it is time for him to do something, play someone,
light hearted like he did in Catch Me If You Can.

There is already talk about seeing it two
or three times to really 'get it' but once was enough, more than enough,
for me. I recommend it for the special effects, especially the scene
where Ellen and Leo are sitting in a cafe and the world explodes all
around them with nothing touching them. I am sure it will be a  big hit
and have many admirers bit I am not one of them.

well, well why am I not surprised by the review.Yes you are a critic on movies. But this is a but and no puns indented.People go to see movies to be entertain whether Ellen Page should not be there.I like Leo and lot and right now I am watching Shutter Island and so far I liked it.Big fan of Leo.
If a person liked the movie or story and who care if some of the secondary actors sucks. It is Leo that they watched. Many do not go deep as you do.
This is something that you like to write and yes you seen a thousands of movies and so have I.I will see this on DVD and the only reason for this so that I can admired Leo all by myself.
The overall review on this movie was great.
And I do want to see the hunk.Joesph G.Levitt.Coming of Age.
Well someone has to disagree with you and might as well be me

I, to, like to be entertained--and I, too, thought Leo was hunk--5 years ago--no more--you will be bored by this movie and befuddled when it is all over--the intial reviews were great but the later ones not so great.
Joseph G. Levitt?? Who is he????

It looks like a very confusing movie. I shall wait until it comes out on DVD so I can watch it 2 or 3 times. Although, I do miss 'The Big Screen'.

Because of the special effects it should be seen on a big screen
I doubt you will want to sit through this more than once even if to figure it out!

Boy! You're a tough critic. I'm not sure I'm up for all they layers of dreams occurring simultaneously, however. I'm just a simple little country girl from Oklahoma. This here sounds like deep thinkin'. Maybe ah better jest stick to my old classic favorites. Those, I get!!

I think I am a tough critic because I have seen thousands of movies--and, yes, many of them classics!!!
