When the film ended after
2 and a half hours I turned to Allen and John and said, "Now tell me what I just saw? What was it all about?
What was with the 15 minute sequence about a dead spider? And the parting of the
red sea bit? And where does the half blood prince come in?"
I haven't read any of the books and only saw the
first film, consequently, it is like coming in the middle of the film as a lot
depends what came before. I have no idea what/who the 3 balls of black smoke
that turn into human forms were suppose to represent
Yes, it is already breaking records and will be a
big hit but unless you are a Harry Potter fan don't waste your time seeing it.
There is too much for a novice to this series to make any sense out of it.
Like many films of today it is loaded with special
effects as if the story alone isn't' good enough to carry it and, as far as I'm
concerned, it is true of this film.
Yes, the 'kids' are
growing up so of course romance and flirting have to come into play and
this film picks up on that. Daniel
Radcliffe, (I was looking for his 'gay face'--see previous blog--but I missed it), Ron Weasley and Emma Watson are growing up in
front of the movie's audience and seem the right age for there roles and will
probably have long careers ahead of them though it seems they have made enough
money from all the films they will never have to work again, which I hope
doesn't happen as that could mean bad news headlines in the future.
All the adults handle their roles adequately though
none really stand out while Maggie Smith seems to be doing a cameo.
The bottom line? I won't be going to see the next
two sequels and this film depends a lot on if you have seen the previous ones as
to whether you will like this one or not.
