I Forgot Work is Work!

I
retired around 2002 and haven't really had any deadlines since then. Oh
I have doctor appointments but I can always cancel or reschedule them but now I have committed myself to a person, a job, to be at certain places and at certain times. The first commitment I had was last evening to be at the Broward Performing Arts Center to see, and write a review of, the  full title
being  "The New Mel Brooks Musical Young Frankenstein". The curtain was
suppose to go up at 8 PM and I know, from 60+ years of theatre going,
that it usually starts at 8:10 PM. Was I anxious? Let's just say that I
made sure Allen picked me up at 6:30 and we were at the theatre 6:45, so
we were a little bit early.  LOL

The Performing Arts building is up on a hill--remember this is South Florida and we don't have hills--and at night it is a spectacular site
but I really need to get a better camera. I had to delete at least 75%
of the pictures I took but here a few that did survive.

Granted
it was a tacky red carpet but it was a red carpet. In the lobby Igor,
the monster and his wife were roaming around having their pictures taken
with audience members and they were serving test tubes of champagne or
fruit punch.

Before
the show started the press agent asked me if I was doing anything on
Friday and would I like to go to Miami and after affirmative to both
questions it seems I am going to see "Rain". I was sort of hesitating
because the new production of "Dreamgirls" will be opening there on October 19 and i really want to see that but a 'bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush."

For those who want to read my review of "Young Frankenstein" it will be posted on www.corinescorner.com tomorrow and I will post it here next Thursday as per my agreement with Corine.

For the moment the schedule of shows coming to the BrowardMiz", "West Side Story", "Wicked" and "Hair" with the possibility of a few others and possibly some of the shows at the Miami Center. Performing Center over the next 6 months and that I will probably see
to review are: "Rock of Ages", "Cats", Burn The Floor", "Les

Meanwhile, and I already apologized to D'Philips, tomorrow night:

RAIN, the acclaimed Beatles concert! They look like them and they sound just like them!  “The next
best thing to seeing The Beatles,” raves the Denver Post.   All the music and
vocals are performed totally live!  RAIN covers the The Beatles from the
earliest beginnings through the psychedelic late 60s and their long-haired
hippie, hard-rocking rooftop days. RAIN is a multi-media, multi-dimensional
experience...a fusion of historical footage and hilarious television commercials
from the 1960s lights up video screens and live cameras zoom in for close-ups.
“Uncanny! RAIN are a quartet of fine musicians in their own right…as The
Beatles, they triumph!” cheers the Boston Herald.  “An adoring Valentine to The
Beatles,” declares the Washington Post. Sing along with your family and friends
to such favorites as “Let It Be,” “Hey Jude,” “My Guitar Gently Weeps,” “Come
Together” and “Can’t Buy Me Love,” and relive Beatlemania from Ed Sullivan to
Abbey Road!

It may be work; but somehow I don't think you are going to mind it one bit. This is what you do best and what you love best. So happy this opportunity came along for you, Martin.
