Since I moved here to Gateway Terrace in
1999 I have spent Thanksgiving Eve and Thanksgiving Day cooking
everything from soup to nuts not to mention a different stuffing each
year, a cake, cranberry sauce from scratch, sweet potatoes, fresh
veggies and, at least, a half a dozen other side dishes. I would spend
Thanksgiving Day making up plates and giving them to the security
guards, people who had gone out of their way for me the previous year
and a few neighbors who I knew didn't have any family (or friends) and
spend the day alone.
This year I decided I
wanted to go out for Thanksgiving dinner. I would prefer a Thanksgiving
buffet which has all the turkey and trimmings plus other 'stuff'. The
best bet for that is either a hoteldining room or one of the gambling casinos so I am getting a list of places together.
I
know Gino is spending the day with his family on the west coast (of
Florida, that is) and John said he would join me. I asked Allen to come
along and though I know RIGHT NOW he isn't in the mood to do anything I
am hoping that he will change his mind. He has, the past two years I
think, spent the day with Michael and Phillip but they may not be up to
it and might even want to join us which would be great. Will ask Allen
to suggest it to them.
I am going to speak to John and Allen and
see if it is okay if I ask a few of the guys here who are alone to join
us, though I would be very pleased if it was just the two or three of
us!
All the above doesn't mean I won't
buy a turkey next week--at 69 cents a pound how can I not??? It will
provide me with a week of varied meals and in this economy every little
bit helps!!!
Hard to believe Thanksgiving
is 12 days away, Christmas is 40 days away and 2009 is 47 days away!!!
Time is flying way too fast!!!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING
