Then we went to the Deli Den where we met John for a late lunch and I had a gift certificate (Thanks, Donna) from my birthday (celebrating a Leap Year Birthday never ends!!! LOL)

Their web page is https://www.thedeliden.com/
There is something about a New York deli that is hard to define and certainly hard to duplicate outside of that city. Some restaurants like Wolfie's, Pumpernick's and Rascal House have succeeded in South Florida but Deli Den is not one of them.
First of all the place is too sterile with very high ceilings and 'blah' surroundings. The server and service was okay and let us know he was 'light in the loafers' from the very beginning--not like the rough, ready and take no nonsense waiters of the NYC delis.
When we sat down we were each giving a small dish of cole slaw and a slice of fresh semi sour pickle--good thing Gino and John don't like pickles--guess who benefited from that?? LOL John had a chef's salad--good size and good quantity of meats. Gino and I shared a deli platter (pastrami. corned beef and roast beef) and a Nova Scotia platter--neither were served with 'a basket of rolls' as the menu stated and how does a legit deli present a Nova Scotia and cream cheese platter without bagels?? One thing delis are known for are heaping servings and these came nothing close to that.
The desserts weren't too bad--an eclair and a chocolate 'log' that were good but not that impressive.
Would I recommend the place? Would I go back? No and no!!
We then went over to John's place--he has a collection of valuable coins that he wants to sell on e-bay and knows nothing about how to do that so I showed him a few things. I will take pictures of the coins and put them up for auction on e-bay on my site. If you are or know any coin collectors let me know and I'll send you to the web pages!!
Also, will be putting up a classic car a friend of his owns--lists for $15,000 in the blue book but will be put up for auction at a price a lot less than that--interested? Let me know.
Now I am home watching one of my favorite old classic movies on TCM--"The Bad & The Beautiful"--a good Saturday folks!!
PS If you are a Joan Crawford fan or not familiar with her as an actress don't miss one of her best performances--"Harriet Craig"--Monday on TCM at 6 PM (EST)--makes Mommie Dearest look like a milquetoast!!!
best.
