The positives: the ambiance and Santiago, the server, along with all the busboys.
The negatives: the booths are way too long--hard to explain but sit at a table if you go there.
The food: Over-priced and not memorable.
We
started with the Duck Confit Pizza with wild mushrooms which was tasty,
hot and more than enough for 2. The house bread was tasteless and
really shouldn't have been served with the pizza plus the biscuit I
got with my main course.
Allen
ordered the NY Strip which came with mash potatoes and Santiago
substituted brussel sprouts for the spinach per Allen's request. He was
not thrilled with the potatoes or the sauce on the steak.
Where
did start with my dish? We were going to the theatre so I really didn't
want to order the City Hall Timpano--a heavy assorted pasta, sausage,
meatball and cheese dish--which i really did want LOL--I asked for a
couple of suggestions and should have had the pork chops buy instead
went for the fried chicken with mashed potatoes, corn and bacon, honey,
gravy and a biscuit--glad I didn't want something too heavy! Everything
was crowded on to the plate making it almost impossible to get to the
poatoes. Luckily the chicken was finger food but there was no side dish
(only service mistake made--the bread and butter dishes were taken away
when we finished the pizza) for the bones. I had to take the gravy,
honey and corn monkey dishes off the main plate and put on table. Some
of the chicken was bloody while the breast piece was over-cooked and
dry.
Allen had a diet coke and I had coffee.
The check for both of us plus a 20% tip came to $85
Oh yes, a pet peeve--no manager, host or owner ever came to the table.
