Check it Out

This
Tuesday evening PBS (check your local listings for time) will be
showing the 25th Anniversary special film of the musical stage
production of "The Phantom of the Opera"--the encore alone, with all the
various actors who played the Phantom and Christines and other roles,
makes it worth seeing

I just read a review of the show which sort of panned it. Michael Crawford did not sing because he had just done a matinee of The Wizard of Oz. I will be interested in your opinion.

I taped it and just watched it again. When they started the curtain calls, I sat in my living room with tears running down my cheeks. It brought back great memories of seeing it live in Chicago many, many years ago with good friends.

He sang 5 words!!!! He is appearing in another show in London and got to Albert Hall just in time for the final bow--I LOVE all the encores!!!
I love the fact that it is the longest running show on Broadway and is till playing--also plays all around the world and 'critics' pan it LOL

My PBS station showed it last night. It was wonderful. There were some parts I did not remember. Maybe it was changed when it went on the road. One of the best parts was at the end when the original actors came out and sang. Michael Crawford was there but did not sing. Anyone know why?

I checked the online guide, where you can search by title, and it doesn't look like they are showing it this week. Hopefully, soon!

No wonder they don't allow gay marriage in RI--they don't even allow The Phantom!!

I pasted in that URL and got one lonely hit in Google. I don't think I've ever gotten just one hit in Google. I'm going to mark it on my calendar right now.

No, it didn't take me to the site, and took so long loading the page when I clicked the 'result' I just gave up.

Sadly, it doesn't look like the Boston or Providence PBS stations are carrying this.
